Default UPDATE: Forge Splitter with S/C - INSTALLED + PICS

Has anyone tried the Forge Splitter (SPLT-R) Hybrid DV/BOV on the S/C yet? I might pick one up, if all else fails it has a plug so you can run full recirculation.

It looks like it may have clearance problems, I have a ebay knock off of the turbosmart dual bov (about the same size) and it is alittle too tall and hits a bracket on the firewall. I had to cut off alittle bit from the bpv outlet on the oem charge hose but it still hits not as often though.

looks nice...I think this looks similar to the normal forge as far as size is concerned...I didnt really look but are there any dimensions on the website? Compare it to the normal forge dimensions. It looks like it will fit. Im pretty sure the turboxs one or the knockoffs are taller and skinnier in comparison to the forge so thats why you may have problems

I didn't see any but I don't see why you couldn't move some things around in the bay to make it fit ... it only looks a bit taller than the Forge 007.
I'm going to email them anyways so I will ask.

My real concern is the ratcheting adjustment and how it compares to the colored springs of the 007. In lieu of 4 different weight springs this has roughly 6 and half full revolutions of the ****, enabling about 53 clicks of adjustment. ...I'm sure if it wasn't enough you could stick a washer or so in there.

FROM THE PDF...
"The spring used in the SPLT-R valve is a conical (ie: collapsible) progressive rate spring designed to retain a wide range of boost levels depending upon the adjustment of the valve.
The adjustment **** is ratcheted and there are 8 "clicks" per 1 full revolution of the **** (360 degrees).
There are also roughly 6 and half full revolutions of the **** available enabling about 53 "clicks" to provide a wide range of adjustment. This ratcheting feature also allows the user to keep track of their adjustments for varying boost levels. ie: a different boost level for pump gas vs. race gas."

I see. I was thinking slightly longer hoses and maybe a bracket that would support it so you could reach the adjustment **** and the atmospheric horn (so you could swap it with the plug to run stealth)

For now. Its up to Speed Source once we see how it turns out.

I think I'm gonna buy the Forge SPLT-R. I'll let you know how it turns out.

for sure.

esetuning.com was AWESOME to work with ... for whatever reason the info didn't transfer from their site to paypal so I called them they sent me a few emails and held the line til I got them and payment was squared away. Then I called back twice, being the indecisive pita that I am, and changed my mind three times over the finish. lol. Their customer service gets two thumbs up from me. ...btw, they sell all the Forge products.

[edit] it shipped out an hour after I ordered it too!

Got it in the mail on Sat, installed it that morning.
The unit itself is **** for sure, a very sexy piece of quality CNC'ed goodness. So perfectly crafted, it's almost a shame to hide it so far back in the bay.
Install was straight forward. It's not much bigger than Forge's 007 so it doesn't come in contact with anything (brackets, hoses...) Adjustment was a bit of a pita since it's so far back and the DC bar leaves barely enough room to get your hand between the pipes. Once its set right tho, its perfect. Definitely holds boost better than the oem Bosch piece and the sound it great! I definitely have more of that jet fighter sound when cruising and the atmospheric venting with the ~90/10 split is a nice db level, not to loud but just loud enough people can hear it in the car next to you or from the sidewalk.

On to the pics... (details, close ups, in hand for size comparison and installed)

SO does anyone know if a BOV will hurt performance and if so is it a minimal impact or would a Forge BPV 007 would be the best for performance.

well a full BOV would hurt performance.... but a 50% BOV 50% BPV (like the Forge Splitter here) would be less harmful to performance, and it should have a minimal impact if any... I am unsure being that im still running a BPV though. If you want 100% of the metered air then get the Forge BPV 007.

Im waiting for the sound clip myself to decide against the 007 and the Splitter.

I'll see if I can get a sound clip asap.

The Splitter (as is the 007) is made by Forge for the Audi, VW, Porsche, Seat, etc. All of which fully recirculate after the MAF and use the exact same OEM Bosch BPV that we use. So with this in mind it is designed with aprox. a 90/10 split between recirc and atmospheric venting so as not to be any sort of problem. In addition it also has a blank plug that you can swap with the horn to make it run fully recirculated and silent.
