Default Want to go FI but.......

I have just over 90K+ on the car. Runs like new. Just had 90 K service.Mostly Highway- daily driver. I don't do alot of highway now though. Probably fill up on gas once a week. I wanna go turbo but I want some opinions on his first. I am set on either TT or Dezod S1 kit. My goal is 300 to the wheels. I don't beat on the car at all so how long until I'd have to rebuild the engine and stuff?

Thanks

as long as you can afford a new clutch and potentially a new engine in the next 1-5 years, then go for it. It's nearly impossible to say that the car has xxx,xxx miles before it fails. The general consensus will be that you're somewhat past the typical "half-way" point for the car, but even that varies so much between vehicles, conditions, maintenance, and driver.

The worst that could happen is that you destroy your clutch and engine, which could happen to a turbo tC of any age.

Agreed... no one can give you a set time / miles.

If you want a turbo kit by all means get one... BUT make sure you have $$ saved for internals just in case down the line. For sure get yourself a new clutch with the kit unless you already have an upgraded one.

The kit comes with injectors... maybe get a fuel pump with your kit?? But yeah.. do what makes you happy just make sure your able to fix any potential problems.

It wont even hurt if you get a quick compression check all though im sure everything is fine.... just throwing that out there.

Good luck.

dam u got 90K on that bad boy already lol
As someone mentioned before...get a compression and leakdown test first before you even consider turboing...at the point where your at, if you wanna turbo that car i hope you plan on keeping it for a looooooong time. If thats the case, id consider just tearing down the block and doing a rebuild to begin with...then along with that start beefing up the tranny...clutch/flywheel/lsd...maybe synchros at that point as well....clutch kit should come with a new throwout bearing....i dunno, I think it would end up being an expensive proposition and like I said, I would only do it if you plan on keeping this car till it rusts out

^ yea it all depends how long you want to keep your car. You can build the engine now since you have 90k miles on the car and you did get some good use out of the engine ...... or you can run 7-8lb turbo and keep it at that. Either way you surely will need a clutch. If you are doing the clutch think about getting a different flywheel (if you have the $$)
