I was doing some street tuning on my tC and had my wife doing the driving. She was doing a pull and I watched the boost gauge clime to about 15psi(It was fun but horrifying at the same time too). I have a 7psi spring in the Wastegate and I have never had any problem with it opening. I was doing some street tuning yesterday and never had an issue. I checked my vac lines and they are fine. On the way back I stepped on it and it went to about 9psi and I just stopped. What should I check on the car? It is a TiAL 38mm, vac line is from a block to the side port.

 

Man i just fixed my buddys like that and he had a pinched vac line (he installed the line under the valve cover cover lol) .......7psi spring should make about 6 lbs on ur gauge.......pull ur wastegate apart and make sure everything is good

 

It wasn't pinched, but I could go to the auto parts store and get a new line whats $3 lol.

are you using a boost controller if so make sure its still good. and yes just replace vacuum line to be safe cheap fix may save you a motor

 

No boost controller, it is just ran off of the spring. It ran just fine friday then saturday it doesn't. If you look above a few posts I have a link to a video of the WG.

 

What manifold are you using and what wastegate

 

Took the wastegate completely off. Valve was stuck to the valve seat. I took the handle of a screw driver and tapped it loose. I cleaned the valve and seat with brake kleen. Seems to be doing fine now. I have no clue why it did that. Just had a ton of carbon build up.

 

i would brake it all the way down and clean the carbon off the valve shaft. put it back together with antisize or a high temp grease.
