Default zpi 16g turbo manifold.....need help

alright.. i got a 06 tc with a 16g zpi turbo with a log style manifold that wont stop cracking.. iam pushing 17 psi. i moved to pa for auto schooling and now the exhaust is cracked and currently pushing 11 psi at full throttle. is there anywhere i can get a manifold that will bolt up to the zpi setup? they stopped making the log style manifolds. the way the t3 t4 flange is, iam having problems with finding a manifold that will work.. anyone have any ideas?

Either look for one in the classifieds, keep welding it, or make a custom one!

Hmm id look at having one custom made for you if its cracking at a location other than the welds you fixed it could be a material weakness. Also, just curious, thats the most boost Ive seen anyone run with the 16g on our car, how much power are you making at 17psi? Also what else do you have done (internals)?

why not just get a new manifold and downpipe combo? no need to weld, or worry about cracking.

the zpi manifold was kinda a crap design... they tend to crack quit often but alas there is something you can do about it though. weld up the crack and cut a slit on the head flange, this will allow the manifold to flex somewhat.

rhythm&smoke (travis) can give you more details about it

Mabey talk to Dezod and see if you can get one of their log style mani just see if they will weld a different flange on. Its worth a try.

You could also try Vulcan Turbo.

go to this website.. pics tell everything. http://www.facebook.com/#/album.php?...&id=1804579903
i have forged wesico pistons bored 20 over. its cracking on the welds. the problem is the way the turbo flange bolts to the manifold. the flange sets differently than most turbo manifold flanges sit. thats where my problem runs into unless i want to redo the whole set up or have a custom one made up. the other problem would be what if i weld the manifold cause ive welded it in 2 places already. once i do that, there will be no more give in the manifold so what i am concerned about is the turbine housing cracking.

look at the engine pic and the way the turbo bolts up to the exhaust manifold.. compared to anyother turbo manifold.. the other manifolds are turned 90 degrees compared to mine. ive never seen this before besides on like eclipses and srt4s

you have to cut a vertical line in the flange.

there was a vertical cut in the flange and that was what caused the crack in the manifold on the first place because it caused the center to crack because of the flex in the manifold from heating and cooling.

ATP makes a cast manifold with a t25 footprint:

You may need to modify the dp if this manifold moves the mounting position of the turbo.

I didn't know all that. I just mentioned them because their log mani looks like a quality piece that wouldn't change the turbo position much. I'm glad I went with the Treadstone mani instead of Vulcan.
