Hey everyone....

Curious, has anyone installed an external Hard drive via USB with music. IF so, do you need to format the HD in a special way.

 

i have a flash drive connected to mine. i would imagine a HD would be similar. i just placed the mp3s in folders by album. i think the stereo does the rest (as in finds the supported media, whether its mp3, aac, wav...etc...

 

Yes this is true. A flash is very similar just different in size. But i believe its the way its formatted. I have NTFS on my HD, but a flash drive has FAT32, therefore it will work. i bet if you reformat your flash drive to NTFS, it wont work with the AVIC. (Of course back up your stuff first)

 

from what a few customers ive installed that screen in have told me, that external hard drives dont work for that. they may be wrong.

check out avic411 its a forum. if theres a way to do it, itll be there.

 

only 1.8" laptop hard drives will work as they do not need an external powersupply. i also herd you can use up to 32GB on the SD card and usb drive
