Default * LEDmod.com's Color Changing Gauge Face

I was inspired by this video..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQamT66EAxI
But just found out, it was fake and it was just a video editing...

Anyways, I went ahead and did it anways.....
BUT got it to work finally...
While I was testing like 20 mins ago.. I got pulled over by a cop...
I was reving in the street away from my neighbor since it was noisy...
Cop pulled me over and ask what are you doing on the street for long time....
I had no driver license with me.. but he let me go... showed him my new mod... LOL

Here is the video completed with first prototype for Celica
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2K2c3QQgSA

Yes, it's not for Scion tC, but I planning to implement this to the Scion tC next...
Just wants to hear some feed back...

Cant see the video, but sounds like what I was working on a while back before getting lazy. The trick on the tC (again, I am not sure if this is the same mod since I cant see the video) is that it uses stepper motors to control the needles, so you cant base rpm or speed on the needle motor voltage... you have to convert the incoming square wave.. which I had done on a microcontroller, which is sitting in a box ever since

Unless you used a mechanical method for this.

not exactly what I was doing (at home now and see the video). Mine fade from one to the other (like the color changing needles, only all done electronically) rather than just changing color at one point. Also has a possible "show mode" as well. The issue is that it is much harder to do and requires a lot more modification to the board (which I am trying to get around in order to make it a DIY option as well with a kit). In other words, I opened up a can of worms with that one, but it is still very doable when I can get around to finishing it. Longest I have ever procrastinated on a project for sure

But dont get me wrong, this is a very cool mod as well and can be used as a shift light ;) Good work Sean

Thanks..
For this, I've install 2 new array of white and red LED..
I have external device that senses the tach and at certain set RPM, it switches from white to red....
This mod is just simple two color change for RPM use...
I want to see the result for your PIC also.. I'm not good with programing so.. I wouldn't touch that...

There is external controller(for adjusting rpm), but it all hard wired to the gauge cluster....
It's for RPM only, but I can still add new array of LED on the speedo side to change color too...=

I would also use a two led array for the colors.. the tricky part is getting the relationship between tach and individiual led voltage down so it is nice an even, but is just a matter of me tinkering with it. When the PIC is done, we can work out a deal I am sure, as I would also set up a DIY kit for fellow swappers to use as well.
