Default '06 iPod head unit doesn't sort by track number??

I just got my ‘06 tC with the iPod HU. I love it but I have a major complaint.. There doesn't seem to be a way to play an ALBUM through by TRACK number, instead it re-sorts by song TITLE. Has anyone else found this to be extremely annoying?? I’m big audiophile and I like to listen to albums in the TRACK order that the artist intended to present them. (Especially annoying when listening to "themed" or "concept" albums!) Has anyone found a solution, other than adding track numbers by hand before each track title? (01. Title, 02. Title...)

OR, is there some program out there that could add this info to my 100+ gigs of MP3’s automatically? This seems like such a no-brainer-- I don't understand what Pioneer was thinking! Am I missing something here?

Is your iPod set to shuffle songs? I have shuffle off on my iPod, and goto artist/album and they play fine - in order.
Also, make sure when you rip your albums from CD, that you have track numbers. iTunes has a setting for this:
Pref's / Advanced / Importing: Create files with track number.

I'm a freak about my MP3s...

I go thru and type in all the stuff for my ID3 tags...tracks included.

If you have that in there, you're golden.

Yeah.. I'm a freak about my music too, but I've never had the need to format the track name to include the track number. So I suppose my 100+ gigs of music is hosed..

^^^ Well, you can add them, but it would take some time.
I'd just start adding them and eventually, they will be there. Just make sure to add the option when you rip new tunes.

That's what I'll have to do going forward. It would be nice if someone wrote a script to do this kinda thing automatically..

^^^ Problem is, how would a script know what order the tracks are in?
You can do amazing things with AppleScript - but I'm not seeing how that one could be done.
