Default 2005 tc steering wheel removal???

I have searched and have found some answers, but mostly i found for a 2006, i am just curios if there is a difference.

This was thbest i have found, short and simple.

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...+wheel+removal

my question is do i have to dissconnect the airbag, or could i just dissconnect the battery like stated in the above link for a 2006.

If the process is diferent and you know how to do it, please let me know.

also i might add my steering wheel does not have the 2 plastic pieces, but instead just 1 cover piece, covering the airbag.

thanks david

disconnect battery... wait few mintues..

two T30 torx screws on each side... pull... disconnect airbag. disconnect other wiring..

it's the same.. you just have two less things to remove.

that's why you wait a few minutes AFTER you disconnect the battery.

ok so once i have dissconnected the battery and waited, the airbag will be disarmed, and will not go off?

is there any precautions when putting the wheel back together?

thanks david

uhm.. not that i know of... make sure wires are nicely tucked and won't get pinched when the airbag assembly is put back in... pretty much.

the airbag should be much safer to handle after a long wait after disconnection.. but precautions should still be made regardless.

you can never be too careful.

well.. i've opened up the steering wheel before to do the radio control swap without disconnecting the battery.... but for that i only have to move the airbag and not remove/disconnect it completely...

if i need to disconnect it... yeah.. battery and wait a few mintues first.
