Okay does anyone have this and/or these accessories in your TC? Ive only seen in physically in the xb but I want it bad but dont want to waste the buy on something I cant use. And if any of you do have it do you use and of there add-on products and where are they stored?

 

Nice, well most of that sfuff can be hidden behind you glove box or dash area, as far as the rear view camera, not sure of a good spot, on like the xB we have a good view behind are cars, so a camera would maybe mostly for cool factor, but a spot near license plate or redo scion rear logo area and add your camera there, but mostly it will take some custom work, and far as answer I have been to many car shows and have never seen the camera part of the set up, if you got it you would be maybe the first... in all sweet.

 

Yeah imma do my research and find the cheapest one and make circuit city price match it! Thats how we do it! haha! Does anyone know of someone who does the molding of the console just incase it doesnt fit?

 

I've got the Z1 coming this week, I'll be getting the ND-BT1 as soon as I get a bluetooth phone in January, I was going to use the Pioneer backup camera, but heard that an infrared-lit "bullet" cam was a better deal so I ordered one of those.. I'm not going with the iPod adapter since I mainly use the iPod at work, but I did get the XM radio + XM NavTraffic system. I mostly listen to XM anyway... I was going to go with the AVIC D2, but when I saw that it didn't play DVD's, that left the Z1 since I hate the slide-out-and-flip systems. Can't wait to try out the voice activated navigation and bluetooth phone over the speakers... I'm going to throw in some A/D/S/ amps / sub / component speakers for good measure while I'm at it. Looking at the back of the car today I'm not sure where I'll mount the camera. I've seen cameras like the Pioneer one mounted to a bracket that's attached by the top 2 license plate screws, but I want to mount it higher. I was thinking "keyhole", but obviously found no keyhole when I bought the car last week. LOL I also plan on mounting another "bullet" cam in the passenger's rearview mirror, so I can see a closeup of curbs when I'm parking in Boston. As for where everything is stored, there's a TON of room behind / under the radio... Should be more than enough for all the accessories. My amps will be recessed in the rear seats like in my Neon. Nice clean looking install, hard to see from the outside. Not sure when I'll get it all installed, hopefully soon. I'd do a write-up, but I'll be trying some anti-theft installation techniqes and that would kind of defeat that purpose. LOL Should at least have some pictures when done. Can't find many reviews of the Z1 online, but the ones I did find (mostly the BMW guys) seemed to love the thing. I played with it in Tweeter for a while, and it's niiiice.. Would like a more "radio-like" display for the radio. Maybe that can be customized.. (Edit: Why do I feel like the oldest person around here? LOL Wierd seeing everyone's age displayed. I wanna be 21 again! )

Let's see... Tweeter wants $2,200 for it(!) + installation, just the HU. I got it online from "bargainunlimited.com" for $1518, remote control for $15, + shipping. ($$ shipping though) Total was $1,598. It was about the same on eBay, but I had planned on buying a bunch of other stuff from them 'till the shipping kept going up with each thing. (wanted some Focal speakers - their price is cheap, but it added like $40 to the shipping!) Infrared backup camera was like $75 on eBay, the bluetooth adapter can be had for $97 on eBay. I got the XM / traffic interface for $109, also on eBay. (eBay is my freind... LOL Although I did get screwed for over $1k a while back, haven't heard anything from the police in a long time about that now that I think of it...) All-in-all it was pretty darned expensive, but hopefully it will last me a long time, and keep me from getting lost. (Right now I use my laptop on the passenger seat for GPS nav, but it's a pain...) Oh - I also got the speakers on eBay, naturally. A/D/S/ 246ix, + an A/D/S/ 10" sub. (will make fiberglass enclosure to blend it into the passenger side of the trunk, more so than that Bazooka factory one..) Sub was like $80 with shipping, speakers were about $136 per pair. The A/D/S/ amps were the nice 20th anniversary ones that I've had for a long time, since my '01 R/T Neon. I used to have my install of those online, but that went away with an old ISP. Everyone loved the install. The tC seats unfortunately have the middle-seat shoulder belt kind of in the way, but I think I can just squeeze the 6 channel amp in that passenger side big seat. I'll also put the distribution block and the crossovers in the big seat, on the left side of it. I want to mill out a block of brass in the shape of the Scion logo for the 12v distribution block, LOL. Nerd, I know. (the good thing about having a CNC machine in the spare bedroom, haha) The 4 channel amp will go in the driver's side seat. All this stuff is time-permitting of course, which has been pretty scarce lately. Sorry if that's too much information, I tend to get carried away posting!!! ;)

One other thing I hope to do, is motorize the "Scion" flap door, then motorize the entire radio so it slides forward, flush with the radio trim instead of 1/2" in. Lots of ideas, little time. I may just ditch the door, I'm not sure. Was never a big fan of it, but it's good for "stealth"... Allright, 1am, time for sleep! Still early for you guys out there in the land of warmth!

 

I got a FAB deal for all the above for $2500.00 with install. Sound good?

 

That actually doesn't sound *too* bad, if you go by the normal retail prices for stuff.. Is it from a reputable place that would warranty the install and the parts? I got the unit cheaper by going online, but I don't think Pioneer will honor the warranty if I need it.. That and it's a pain to run wires. If I had the $$ I'd pay someone just to do it all.

 

Yeah its a nice shop in san diego. I hope it all works out! Now its time to save!!!
