My 2007 3.0 tc came with the 6" sub built in; it makes horrible sounding thuds. Is there any way to just swap that one out for a different one or would i have to make some other mods?

 

Not too many vendor makes 6" subs. Most are made to order and is expensive. Best bet is to step it up and get a 10" sub in a new enclosure.

yeah there are some 6" subs but I dont think the factory enclousre or amp woul be big enough

better of adding a 10" possible an 8"

The stock sub enclosure is designed with the optimal specs to the subwoofer. It is not a good idea to replace it due to air space and power. The built in amp is weak and not enough to power an aftermarket sub. Your best bet is go with the traditional amp and sub combo or a all in one unit like the infinity basslink or alpine plv.
