I got quoted an hour for just the dvd but maybe 2 hours for the nav. Takes longer if you want more stuff in.

They usually charged u about 60 dollars an hour. Try buying in the stores. I was going to buy a pioneer avh-p4000dvd from car stereo city and they said tthe total was 700. 500 for the unit and 200 for the install including the ipod cable, the bypass with a switch in the cubby, the brackets, and all the other shop fee. To me that seems like a good deal. They are the only ones around here that would do the bypass for me.

Is the bypass only for watching DVDs while driving? It looked like someone posted that it allows you to receive satelite radio or traffic gps also. Maybe I miss read that.

get the kenwood headunit with garmin navi.

whoever says the D3 is a great navigation system clearly has no idea what they're saying or used any other navigation system.

the d3 sucks in so many ways, what it does is it draws a straight line from point a to point b and uses the streets that is in or close the line, so you'll have to go in and out the streets to get to your destination, or make you use the freeway thats inside the line

another thing that sucks about it is that when you just powered it up and its not connected to the GPS satellite yet, it will guess (from your speed and direction) and you will end up flying through the streets!

Garmin has the best interface and overall GPS system, hands down.
And the Kenwood's GPS are all hard drive based, not off a DVD... so you don't need to worry about losing or putting in the map disc, and it's also faster loading directions, routes, etc.

Yeah one thing i hate about the d3 is that you have to put in a dvd to use the gps. But the Avic-900bt or avic-90bt uses a hard disk.
