Default Air still blowing out of top side vents

Dilemma: I switch my AC mode from top and bottom to just bottom (feet). Air still blows full force out side vents as if I hadn't switched a thing. Although top middle ones shut off.

Am I missing something? Aren't all top vents supposed to stop once switched to floor?

oddly enough, they stay on for some reason. my experience is thats the case on all toyotas. not sure why. you can always close the vents if you dont want air coming out of it.

it creates a pressure difference. there is bound to be some air flow out.

This was the first thing I noticed when I bought mine a year ago. Even with the mode set to floor and the fan off, it still comes out of the vents slightly. Doesn't bug me now, but it bothered the hell out of me when I first got the car.

Turn on the Recirculation button! unless its on defroster, then you cant. If you turn of your vents and dont have the recirculate on the air will still come in. Turn it on... you'll be amazed! I was haha

Just to clarify. This is with my ac/heater ON. Sometimes I want it to be on but not recirculate. I know once it's off I can hit the recirculate and it''l stop all air leaking in.

same here!
as said before, use the recirculate...

if you read the manual, there's diagrams that show where air comes out for each setting.
