Default airbags popped

need some pro/experience opinions here
i was driving to work
going down hill
suddenly roadway was bad lots of holes and bumps
cars were on either sides, i'm forced to stay straight unfortunately
as i was going through it, my suspension slammed and BAM, side airbags [front/rear] popped right on my face.

is this something i can talk to the dealers about?
will the warranty cover it?
i have tein S springs
car's fine just the airbags popped

there was a recall on the side airbag sensors quite a while back now, and you should've gotten a letter saying you needed to get it fixed.

seeing as how it already popped though... i think it'll be a little more difficult with warranty work.

take it to the dealer the airbags malfunctioned and it will be covered under warranty. And there was a recall on the 2006's for that issue with the side airbags going off.

I don't know about this one
I think you might not be covered if you take it to a dealer.
The fact that your lowered on non TRD parts will be an issue.
The will say since it was lowered on non TRD parts then it was them that caused the air bags to blow.
I would just say they went off when I started the car or something.

Sucks that happened.
Hope it all works out for you.

you should still be covered under warranty. springs have nothing to do with your airbags popping on you.

or they could always pin it on him for neglect for not coming in for the recall...

either way.. you're gonna head to the dealership anyway.

You cannot be pinned for neglect if you did not know about the recall. They did not send certified letters so they have no way to prove he ever knew about the recall.

Man that would scare the living crap out of me. Glad you are ok!

This is a safety issue, you need to take it to the dealer and get it fix. This is a manufacturer problem more then yours. Air bag deployment for hitting some ruts/holes in the road is a major problem for the manufacturer, not you. I don't care what type of springs you have on your car. Get it in and get the air bags replaced, if they try to charge you tell them your reporting this to the state and federal agencies as required. Air bag deployment without damage is a major no-no for the manufacturer. That in itself can cause an accident. By the way, what recall?? I have a 2006 TC with side, front and rear curtain air bags and never received a recall. I did hear about shutting the doors to hard could set them off but I never received a notice.

^^ the slamming the doors thing is exactly the same issue as that guy has. the dealership needs to replace the airbag sensors with newer ones.

in his case, the same jarring but from the holes, not from door slammage.

thanks for y'all replies...i think i should take it to the dealers
i bought mine 05/2007 and yes, it's a 07 tc.
i never got any letter about the recall
i guess it wasn't meant to be sent for the 07
but it happens!
so i should scare them off with state/federal agencies??
thanks guys

I'd take it in for sure. Maybe throw the stock springs in that way they don't say your lowered suspension made the car hit the ground and slow the car fast enough to set off the sensor.

heheh.. that'd be a wasted effort... blaming airbags on springs..

just take it to the dealership... if you're screwed, you're screwed. there's not much you can try to do.

I haven't heard anything about a recall, and I work for Toyota. Guess I'll be taking the wife's tC to the dealership this week to find out if it was affected. And no, they can not say that his being lowered caused the bags to go off. It would not have mattered even if they were TRD springs. Magnuson-Moss Warranty act comes into effect there. Especially considering there was a recall for the airbag sensors.
