Default Amp location

OK so I did a search but found nothing on this...

I saw someone who had hidden their amp underneath the trunk mat, in the little styrafoam box (where the stock bazooka sub would go). I wanna do the same thing cuz one, it saves room/looks cleaner, and two, less chance of theft. One worry though: won't that area get hot? don't amps need room the "breathe" (for lack of a better word)? I figured if it didn't have enough air to cool off, it might mess up or something....what do you guys think, is placing it down there a bad idea?

Yea it would get hot... You just place a pice of wood under it...

Also cut some holes on each side put a fan on one side.. makes sure it woudlnt get hot.

Depending on where your at check the sig man

It will get hot, but most amps have a cutoff switch built in so that they will shut off before frying. It just a matter of how long it will take.

Hm, what does placing a piece of wood do? And how could place fans (and what kind) next to it?

Mine's bolted onto the left rear seat and that cover with a spring covers it. Doesn't get hot. My car isn't for show so that's why I put it there.
