You can do that. Advantages? It'll be closer to the radio = less prone to noise and signal degradation; less wires; more cargo space in trunk. Disadvantages? Larger amps won't fit; you must elevate it to avoid contact w/ water from rain (or snow) brought in from passenger shoes; front passenger MIGHT feel the heat on his a$$.

Thanks. One more thing. Everyone tells me to set my Head Unit back so the door will closed. I have no clue how to do this. If anyone can shoot me a link to another post with pics or just explain it really well I'd appreciate it. And I still need to know the best route for the power cables to the amp. I can handle the RCA's cause that's pretty straight forward i just don't have a clue about the power. I really haven't taken a look at ripping stuff apart to run it under the carpet yet so part of this is laziness but any info learned is a good thing right?

Searching is the best thing bro. Tons of infos/DIY avail. here in SL But for the basics http://www.crutchfield.com/learningc...tml?format=mov

Just make sure you use the existing holes through the firewall. And remember not to route the RCAs and the power cable together.

What HU are you planning to install?

I placed my amp above the spare tire with a piece of wood and just spray painted the wood black.

easy to do and looks nice

Ive also mounted the amp for the highs uner the carpet in one of the side pockets

never had an over heating issue

i did the same. Built a wood circle that fits in my spare and mounted my amp to it. Only downside is that it is too big and pushes the carpet up a little bit(not noticable, but i wouldnt want to put anything extremely heavy on it). Also, i see alot of people put them in the back seat, behind where the cupholders are. It is a good spot, but hard to access quickly, and my amp was just a tad too big.

an avic z2 I just ordered it off of ebay. I liked my buddies d3 in his xA but i hate how you have to have the cd in for the nav. So i figured i'd go with the z2. I'll have pics of everything when I'm done with it. It shouldn't take but a couple weeks to get it all here and installed.

In the spare FTW!!

I still need to build a platform/stand for the amp and the sub. Weather is getting better, so I'll have to put that on the 'to do' list.

You could put it behind the side panel in the back.

I have a pretty big amp in there. Of course whenever I want to "tune" the system I have to tear the interior apart... but it's very stealth!

I don't think you'll be able to put much below your passenger seat. I put an XM module under there and it was tight and gets in the way of anyone sitting back there.
