Amp-Sub Problem, Please Help
Hey guys, I have a problem.
I've got a Kenwood KAC-7252 I'm trying to hook-up to an Orion P25D2. Im using a pre-wired harness with RCA outs.
After running all my wires, positive, ground, remote power, remote control, input, speaker wire, sub, I go to test the system, and nothing.
When starting the car the red LED goes on, then immediately fades out.
I've tested my power and ground wires and im getting 12v out of both the battery and the remote power when using the ground.
I've tried it with no input, the sub disconnected, remote control disconnected, the amp just wont turn on.
I can get other things to turn on by using the batt and ground (12V lights) if that helps. The AMP is in good condition, no physical signs of damage, no odd noises or smells.
So what could be the problem? Any and all help would be appreciated.
Edit: Fuse is good too, even tried a new fuse as well.

make sure your remote wire is hooked up to the amp remote wire and not to the power anteanna lead.... that would make it work for radio but not CD...
could try hooking your amp up in a friends car to see if it's the amp or the wiring.... that's helped me numerous times in the past...

honestly, if an amp is getting 12V at the power and remote terminals, and ground at its corresponding terminal, it should turn on provided the amp's fuse is good. Check your ground and make sure it's going through a solid, unpainted piece of metal. A bad ground may show ground when testing, but won't be able to supply adequate current to power the amplifier. If all the power input is right and the fuse is good and it still wont turn on, sounds like a dead amp to me.
Also, you can try disconnecting the remote power wire, and jumping a short piece of wire from the +12V terminal of the amp to the remote power terminal and see if you get anything out of that.

The amp starts to turn on and then shuts off, as prevelant by the LED when the car starts. I have a feeling the protective circuitry is being activated but I cant tell why. Would a bad ground do that?
I purchased the sub-amp-harness from an active ScionLife member. He ensures me they work so Im not ready to call any of them 'dead'.
I know my power and remote power are good. I plan on rechecking the ground and even trying another location.
The RCAs are connected to the harness. The T-clamp is connected to the white with silver wire. The harness looks like the one that was floating around ebay a while back. How can I check to see if the RCAs are sending a signal? I dont have any real electronics tools.
I also plan on wiring in a regular speaker - with the amp and volume turned way down - to see if it might be the wiring with the sub thats doing it.
I also plan on checking this amp in an already working system, and then that amp in this one, but I dont have access to that for a while.
Anyone in the Riverside, Ca, area willing to help out?
Thanks again everyone.

I'd definitely recheck the grounds. Sand down some the paint where your grounding at. Last time I used that amp was early last month, and everything was cherry. The harness is from Ebay, bought from the NorCal Scions crew
keep me updated with the situation man

I'm honestly not familiar with that amp, but try disconnecting the sub wires from the amp and see if the led still shuts off. Also, just try using another ground location anyway. There may not be a problem with where it is now, but testing it this way can at least confirm this. If i was close, i'd check it out for you. See if some other local SL member who knows a thing or two can check the equipment.
Thanks for the help guys, its up and running. It was a bad ground. I tried 4 different locations and changed the connectors on the ground and finally it powers up. Works great.
