have not yet decided between (2) w6's or 1 w7....I'm building the box flush against the trunk/trim, so thats my limiting factor: how much airspace I can get out of that kind of box.

Well what kind of amp are you going to run. You will need a pretty nice one to if you run a w7. They operate in the 800 - 1000w rms range.

Yeah, either I'm gonna do a single w7 or (2)w6's...I plan on taking out the rear trim panels, fiberglassing the sub so it sits flush against the body, and then fabricating a molded trim panel for the front of the sub. I know I can get atleast .8 cu feet out of that, without using all the room back there. If I can squuese out another .2-.4, I'll probably go with the w7

I'll definitely see ya on thurs!

Depends on what size you use. 500-750 watts rms is the optimum power for a 10", according to JL's website.

But I've got the power under control: (2) 500/1's for whatever subs I run, and a 300/2 for my components (Mb quart QSD's and Boston Pro 6.5's), so I should be money on the necessary power. I'm going for a SQ setup, not necessarily SPL.

if you're going for SQ, I'd say get a single w7....they sound soooo sweet!!!! I have the JL H.O. box with the dual 12w3's and they have a great sound to them!!!

Default JL W7

Hey if you are going for SQ setup, check out the digital design subs. http://www.ddaudio.com/dd/default.asp much louder and cleaner then a w7, my buddy has a w7 in his sunfire, and hits no where near what mine does, so project if you wish email me at noobpooner@hotmail.com and i can send you some pics of mine.

^^^you obviously have no concept of sound quality.....DD is an SPL sub....that's like trying to get an SQ oriented person to use Kicker SoloX's for quality....plus, the fact that you have 158db posted in your signature tells us you don't compete in SQ, SQ setups are generally lucky to hit above a 145db......in an SQ setup, you want the bass to sound like it's coming from your dash with everything else....

Solo X's can be used for SQ, but you have to be the man to pull it off. Gary Biggs, who used to compete for Kicker, had 2 of them in his SQ car and they sounded nice. How in the world he got them to sound that good and not over take the rest of the sound, I never figured out.

I don't think I've ever heard an SQ system with DD in it though....usually the DD guys are the ones blowing the windsheilds out of cars....

Anywho... just my .02

I agree. Since DD normally recommends something like 45-50 for tuning...that is NOT musical.

yeah performance wise, I'd love to go with a w7, However, my real constraint here is being able to build a box flush against the sides, wher eit isn't taking up any space in the trunk. I'm not positive yet I can do that, at least not within the specs required for a w7. That's really the only thing holding me back

I'd reply to the other posts below yours...but you guys pretty much covered everything I was gonna bring up.

Yeah, most definately keep us in the loop on that project. A W7 in a tC would rock!
