Default Arm rest on 2007 TC is too far back from the stick

Anyone seen any after market (or other / anything) that might extend the arm rest on my 2007 TC? Arm rest sets to far back from the stick for my female driver.

That lazy you cant put ur right hand on the steering wheel for a lil more safety, or even on lap....or on the stick...custom mod it then....sorry...but no aftermarket for that....

Nice work with the helpful side of your evening. My girl friend just bought the car, she has to have the seat move forward away from the arm rest so her elbow bangs around while moving into the upper gears.

I imagined, after taking an open minded look at the issue, that many smaller people would be effected similarly. So I turn to you helpful sort here at Scionlife.

I did do a search / saw nothing, but it seems that it could be difficult to discrib this for a effective search.

would have to custom fabricate one if you really need it.

Resting your hand on the stick while driving destroy's the transmission, if that is what you are hoping to do eventually.

A tall/wide brimmed bottle in any of the two cup holders would help her.

yuup! an arm of a human person actually has a good amount of weight. The owners manual for my g/f's car actually says do not rest hand/arm on shifter. Some ppl may wonder about the weight from a weighted **** then..... not even close to how much a human arm weighs.

i rest my hand on it, but i try not to put weight on it...i'll keep that in mind from now on.

half of the time i'm thinking to myself, i'm in 4th gear and there aren't any light around...i don't need to have my hand on the stick right now.

having your foot resting on the clutch is horrible too, good thing i don't do that

Yea, I'd like a better ****, but they all seem to be purposely weighted. Even though I doubt it would weigh enough to do any damage even over the long term, I'm still not going to do it. Maybe if I ever find a nicely shaped one made out of lightweight aluminum or titanium or walnut. Heck, even smooth plastic would be fine -- I've never liked the squishy vinyl type that the tCs come with stock.

Hey, we're looking for an arm rest extension, so that is more comfortable to have the arm in postion and ready to shift / not rest on the stick. Seems like this is all going a good deal off subject. Looks likes this is chat club, if we want help we need to go see some custome talent.

Actually, now that we're back on topic (I forgot about the original topic!), an arm rest extension WOULD be a great idea! Especially if it's soft.

I have to agree with the thread originator. The arm rest is a little short. In my previous truck I was able to shift (manual tranny) while my elbow rested on the arm rest. The arm rest in the Scion definetly seems a little short. Only way to utilize it is if you're tall and have the seat back a lot.

I've thought about making an extention like the accord has but I'm not that talented. Just the top part slides foward about three or four inches and is one of the best features (I think).

As for the arm resting on the shifter I don't see anything that would cause a problem at least with the tC. I've had that thing taken all apart and put in a short shifter and can't see what would would cause a problem but I don't know everything.

Thanks! I just took the car out for a weekend road trip and, though I do not rest any ,easurable weight on the stick shift, when the time comes I like to have my hand in position to shift. Smoother, more natural. The typical arm rest allows for this. The TC is really to far back and really your elbow gets to wind up in you drinking cup cause your out of position when you need to drop a gear quickly. "Suggestion Box" would indicate a relook at the layout. I'll make an epoxy model out of a big guld and pad it for my girl, no problem. I Was VERY impressed with this little car, amazing space inside, smooth and a quite ride, decent economy. The moutain road trip was great with the sun roof open! Mush more car than I expected. (Oringator of the arm rest) (We can let it go now)
