Default Autodim Homelink Mirror

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone out there with one of the factory installed autodim mirrors with homelink could tell me if the homelink buttons light up at night, and do they match the amber color of the rest of the cars interior lights?

no, they do not light up, kind of annoying at night when you have two garages right next to eachother and you think you're opening the left one but you're actually pressing the right hand button and the wrong door opens...

I didn't know anybody actually has one of these. If you are going to get that sort of thing, get an aftermarket one with bluetooth capabilities!

its very convenient during the day, and its just a minor annoyance at night, if you feel before you hit the button (like i should do) then you'll know what one to hit. The other cool thing about it is the map/ambiance light underneath. I have mine off cause i swapped all my interior lights to red and it doesnt light up red, but maybe when its on at night you can see the buttons better. i'll check and get back to you.

OK man thanks. I sure know that mirror would be a hell of a lot nicer than 3 different door openers, but for $310 bucks I would at least want it to light up.

i like it a lot, the buttons not lighting up is small price to pay for convenience in my eyes. but youre right, for 310 bucks they should be illuminated somehow.

I LOVE that mirror It is a little spendy for what you get, but the auto-dim feature alone is awesome to have. The homelink portion just makes it even better

I wonder what the install is like for one of these mirrors in any case. I've never looked into it and have no idea. That's something to consider before buying it.

^^ i have bought the mirror for $190 plus $30 to install it, the mirror is definatly worth the money and convenience that you get from it.

Who installed it? I usually like to do my own work if at all possible. You learn, save money, and know it's done right.

I'm very happy with mine. I installed it myself. Very easy and only took about 20 minutes.

What is the install like? Where does the wiring connect to?

It says on trdsparks that it can't be combined with the airbag option. Thats interesting

There are two install options. The first (original) install had you running the wires down the A-pillar, which is why they didn't offer it on cars with the head airbags. Later, they released instructions for connecting it to your sunroof power, which is how I did it (have airbags). You use the existing clip on the windshield, and just pop the sunroof control/map light cover, and splice into the wires there.
