Auxilary port feedback
I recently went to actually use my AUX port on an Dell Axim X50 I have (for playing music) and I notice a huge amount of feedback.. when I accelerate I hear a whining high pitched tone and it get's louder as I accelerate faster and quieter as I decellerate.. If I unplug the x50 the feedback goes away... do I not have something grounded correctly? I had a 600w x2 teknique amp installed with an 12" l7 kicker sub and a 1.5 farad cap installed a few months ago and today was the first time I tried using the AUX port since then..
then there is your problem. most of the time when you have something plugged into your cigarette lighter and want to use an AUX in port, it will cause alot of noise to come through the speakers. i have heard of cases where they had a phone charger and used an ipod through the aux in and they got noise. sorry to say but there is your problem. hope it helped =].
there are a few sound isolators you can try from frys. i personally have yet to be sucessful with any of them, but you can try, i am trying to find a way to get that noise away from my power inverter, and im sure your X50 take alot less power so you may wanna try that. also maybe turn up your x50 volume level too. dont worry about calling toyota, since its not "their" product they really wont help, not to mention, it happens to most of us =[.
Wait.. I just thought about something.. that AUX port and the lighter port in the center console is for the iPOD correct? I have the ipod hookups, so that means I'd be getting feedback from an iPOD also... unless the feedback is some how caused by my x50..
well if you have the ipod headunit, or an ipod adapter, the ipod wont cause any feed back whatsoever. but if you just plug the ipod in to the aux port through the headphone jack, and attach a car charger, you will still get the same noise. i had that set up on my previous car and i got noise still. but now that i have an ipod adapter (for my pioneer headunit) i have no noise whatsoever. =]. and its not just your x50, many things cause noise when you plug them into both the cigarette lighter and an AUX in. even with my slim ps2 and the specifically made car adapter, i still pick up a little bit of engine noise.
also look into a voltage regulator. if its plugging into your cig lighter and making that winding sound then you should look for a setup that goes directly to your 12v source. similar setups are used for carpc's.
