Does the ipod playlist show up on the display when the ipod is being used? And can I select songs using the touchscreen?

hey, i got 3 questions...

*is it true that if you use the POI, it only searches about within 5 miles of where you are or is the radius adjustable?

*how's the sound quality?

*does the steering wheel control lag when you press it and what is the part number to that accessory?

thanks.

for the steering controls... i also heard that there is a "bing" sound everytime you hit volume up/down. is there a way to turn that off?

yeah turning it off would be on the HU itself. i keep mine on so i know i pushed something without having to look at the screen while im driving. (i.e. volume up, etc)

i currently saved enough money for a navi now. at first i was thinking eclipse avn5510 but since that was too expensive (around $1000 and i think they discontinued it and has no update map disc) i decided not to get it. so now i'm thinking of the avic d3 since it's cheap ($600 i found the cheapest) and i got a lot supports from scionlife members.

i'm just still trying to research and read reviews about the d3 to make sure it's suitable for me. only thing now is i gotta buy an ipod, which is a good thing i guess.

so is there an upgrade disc for the d3 (200?

not yet. at least i dont think so. word has it they are phasing out the d3 to be replaced with something as well, so expect prices to drop.

you're awesome mang!!

now if someone could just verify the POI for me. cuz it would suck if i was searching for a gas station and if all it could do was search in a 5 mile radius... there wouldn't be any gas stations for me to go to if it happens to be none in the 5 mile radius.

Well you need a wire harness right? unless you purchase yours from crutchfield, since they include it.

also i was reading on the crutchfield website and they say:

"Disc Compatibility: The AVIC-D3 is compatible with specific DVD-ROM navigation map discs only and cannot play standard DVD-ROM discs."

so from what i'm reading... they say you cannot play a regular dvd (like the one you buy/rent at a store) or am i reading this wrong? or do you have to convert the movie into a specific format?

thanks.
