i have yet to try videos on a playlist method as I don't play videos that often lately. I do know that once I load my video playlist, I can use the D3 or my steering wheel controls to go forward/back a video. Guess i'll give it a shoot since its the weekend and see how it goes. As for the divx movies, it works fine and I converted 100+ mpeg music videos into divx. Xvid does work but you must change the video header. Basically tricking the avic to think xvid movies are divx format. On my long drive to AL, I burnt many xvid movies to dvd to watch. It would randomly stop/skip/desych at some point of the movie. Didn't have problems with short xvid tv episodes though. Not sure why though but ever since then have resorted back to using my IPod for video usage.

So, from what you said earlier, the little aux-looking plug on the face of the navi screen is just for iPods only?

i think its for anything that can handle mini video inputs. though mostly ipods, if you get the connector for it its a mini plug to 3 RCAs with 3 rings around the miniplug instead of normal audio with 2. from those 3 RCAs you can plug in anything youd want with RCA connectors on it

I am installing the d3 this weekend and looking for opinions. Is it better to set the unit back as shown in the install or dremel the inside of the cover?

set it back? becuz the **** on the avic d3 blocks the door from shutting using the stock holes on the bracket

drill holes and u will be fine.. cleaner and easier to do than dremeling the door away.

least when u drill holes on bracket and mess up.. it'll be hidden.. not so much with the door

Can you explain how to change the video header? and you say tv shows work fine but movies flake out? are they watchable or does it go out of synch permenantly?

and yes the xvid file randomly poops out and have to restart it. i gave up on it and just converted everything to my ipod. now i have 10 gigs of music videos and 10 gigs of tv shows/movies on my ipod available

Reading on the Alpine ivaw205 from crutchfield website

"The IVA-W205 will not navigate or display video files from video capable iPods."

even with the ipod cable. so pretty much either use a one of those cables to convert to regular RCA or go a little further and buy a home dock so u can have a remote controller

So just to make sure.....to do the bypass you need to ground the green "parking brake" wire and the yellow/black "mute" wire and thats all?

^^ also, you need to move the mute wire from its factory position in the plug to the one space above it.
