Big Bass Speakers
Hey guys. Im a noob when it comes to audio and i was wondering which speakers give you the best bass. I mainly listen to hip hop/rap and i need to know what amp/full speaker combo is going to give me the biggest, best bass. Im not getting subs so thats why im asking. (I am a 7 inch touchscreen to go with it.) Any help would be great.
Thanks everyone,
Griff

You don't want subs, but you want bass? Not really gonna happen easily without a sub. You can always get a sub that either fits in the back corner of the hatch or under the floor. Don't take up much room and probably will give better bass than any regular speaker you try to install.
Also what kinda bass do you want /like? If your looking for boomy bass try a 10"-12" large box plenty of power.
Smoother more tight try a 10 or an 8. But rememer in the right box a 8 and a 10 can also be boomy, same with a 12

my new components have excellent bass but they really don't have the punch that subs do.
if you're a bass junky get subs. if you're not a bass junky just get a nice set of components but i say you just go get subs.
and yes i'm a bass junky.

Not the box I have, but that is the sub I have in a custom box in the rear corner of the hatch. Takes up almost no room, the sound is decent, and you can hide your amp under the floor. I'll try to find an actual pic of mine tonight.

^ I have a pair of the lesser model (no longer available), not the better 'Pro' model in that link. As for how they sound, well, they don't. They're what's known as a "tactile transducer", and you feel their output, but they don't really produce any sound of their own. You'd feel the bass as if you had a couple 12" subs, but you won't hear any frequencies lower than what your existing speakers can produce. They don't require much power, and because they don't produce sound, a high quality amp isn't required. Practically anything with 25w or greater and a low-pass filter would work fine, so something such as this inexpensive amp is all you'd need.
Now if you want to hear lower bass than your current speakers produce, then at a minimum you'd need to replace the woofers in your front doors, with something that's more capable. A good speaker to do that would be the eD 7Kv.2, which would be easy to install and they're reasonably priced. These would enable you to hear the low bass, and when combined with the bass shakers, it'd be the closest thing you could get to a couple of 12" subs, without actually having any subs or an enclosure in the car. If you were to do this, then you want to get a 4 channel amp that could power both the front door speakers and the bass shakers. Something like this model would get the job done, and it's built in crossover has a great range for such a setup. The rear channels could run the bass shakers at 4 Ohms with the low-pass filter set to 80Hz or a bit lower, with the front channels powering the 7Kv.2's at 4 Ohms (2 Ohm model series wired) and the high-pass filter at 40Hz to help protect them from the lowest audible octave which they can't produce in this application.
So what you want can be acheived, but it'd still take a bit of cash & effort.

Good question,I know if I remember correctly it is 1/2" deeper fit and there is not much room behind ED components and the door skin.the ring can be made thicker and door panel can be trimmed up a bit.........but in doing so you may end up with excursion issues with it hitting door panel.
