Blew 2 Alpine Type-Rs :(
So Im running two 10" Alpine Type-Rs with the Alpine MRD-1005 amp, its a single channel, 1000w amp. I had it turned down to a little less than half way and I blew both of the subs.
Just wondering if anyone can give any help on why they blew, thanks.

Some people can burp them with 1500watts too....
Had to have been an issue in the setup. That is there standard operating range.
And there is no way to TURN AN AMP DOWN.
You may have adjusted the gains, but this wont turn them down. It will just adjust the input voltage to match everything up.
Gains arent a volume ****. Setting them to low can be just as detrimental as setting them to high. (usually not as bad when set low, as when set high tho)but you get the point.
Anyway, they should have a warranty, depending on where/how you got them.

Try to use a dynamic track to adjust gains (one with a WIDE range of lows, mids, and highs so you can adjust for most any other song you'll listen to. Just turn your volume up until you hear distortion through your door speakers, then back it off until the distortion disappears for the most part, then just add gain until you hear your sub distort at that level of volume. Then back it off til the distortion is gone.
Thats pretty much how to do it.
You can find test tone CDs that will make it alot easier. It will play constant notes at different HZs so that you can set it perfectly.

Under the download section, make sure they are 0dB sine wave tones.
I also blew a sub
I had it installed for a whopping 10 hours...It was a Kicker CVR 10.
What I don't get is, it's a 2 ohm sub, 800 peak 400 RMS
my amp runs 800 RMS at 2 ohms, and since I have 2 subs, both subs are getting exactly 400watts rms, but only one sub blew??? Can anyone help me? I think it was probably just because I cranked it too loud...
And to top it off, I threw away the box it came in, and lost the reciept, so no exchange or warranty for me
