Default box question

my fi Q gets here tomorrow and im going to put it in a box that im designing thats 22" wide by 9.5" deep and 14"high. the sub weighs 30lbs. and i will be putting my jl 1000.1 on the back of the box. the sub will be rear firing. my only concern is that the box may tip over during acceleration considering the extreme g's my rocketship of a car can pull no but seriously. is this something i should be concerned about or not?

Yeah, you definitely will want to secure it down with something. You never want anything loose in the back of your car at anytime, in case of accident or hard acceleration.

I had a large sub box in my 4Runner and it was kinda top heavy. Even though the truck was a slouch, I still managed to tip it rearwards coming from a stoplight and it nearly ran into the tailgate.

I screwed that down the next day...

depends on your setup... usually L-brackets work, as long as you have a solid and safe spot to screw them to.

Heavy duty velcro works nicely. The box I used to have in the back of the tC weighed well over 100lbs. I put some of that velcro on it and it never moved... in fact it was a pain in the ___ when I did have to take it out.

The box that I had in my 4Runner had three 12-inch Kickers and they displaced more than 1.5 cu.ft per sub. That was one helluva big enclosure.

I've considered industrial strength Velcro too, but when your box is so big and heavy that you need a second person just to pick it up, then I'd have to go with bolting it down.

Now in the tC, I'm only running one of the 12-inch Kickers in a sealed enclosure. Since it sits in the spare tire compartment and under the floor, I doubt that it'll go anywhere, unless I manage to do something REALLY stupid like flip the car.

My single 10's box is in the trunk firing from the driver side to the passenger side and it stays there perfectly. It's butted up against the back of the rear seat and just barely touches the hatch when closed. Set yours up like that and it'll never move.

i decided to lay it down, so its firing towards the hatch, 35 lb sub plus box, and the amp is mounted on the back. that thing doesnt budge.
