Default A/C compressor not turn on with A/C button

Hi, i have an 06 TC. My a/c compressor isnt turning on when i turn my air on. the air blows correctly just doesnt get cold. had it looked at and the compressor works fine when power is jumped to it. It was said by the same person that the relay under the hood was working correctly as well. Any Ideas?

If power is your only issue, then yes, that would be my first route.

The clicking noise when power is supplied is the compressor clutch. If the clutch is burnt up it will still click but doesnt turn the compressor. Is there a lot of brown residue around the compressor and belt? Your best bet is to find someone with a manifold gauge set to look at pressures.....

I think it's working. I was basing my reply off this right here. I'm assuming it's engaging and blowing cold. So if power is just the issue... then...

Oh yeah, if it's blowing cold after they jump power directly to it. I figured they were jumping power to it with the car off listening for the clutch to engage..

i brought it to a family friends shop and he had all the pressure gauges checked and the relay under the hood and he was the one that jumped power to the compressor and said everything was blowing cold. he told me that he would have to charge me 90 an hour to look into the electric system. so i told him i would look into it. was just wondering if anyone had heard of this happening to another tc and it was something i could change because i can handle taking out the radio and dash pieces.

Easiest starting point is to swap the A/C compressor relay with another known good relay, and check fuses

Post your location, if he applied direct current to the electromagnet behind the clutch and the a/c system started cooling the cabin then that means only one of two things. Do not hire that guy. Its either the pressure switch (I have never seen one go bad) or your relay (which ironically goes bad all the time! on these cars). Everything else being equal, his prognosis eliminating the relay as a culprit is wrong.
