Climate Knob Removal
how do you remove the climate ****? does it just pull off?
i read the following but cant make much sense out of it
Remove the HVAC **** in the center of the console. The outer metal part can be removed by using a flat head screwdriver to push in 3 tabs along the side of the ****. Once the tabs are pushed in, you can remove the metal ****. There is a clear plastic **** that is beneath the outer metal **** cover. You can use a plier wrapped in cloth to remove this clear plastic ****. Beneath this is a nut and washer. I believe the nut is 11mm. Use a socket to remove the nut. Remember to save the nut and washer in a safe place.

Heres how I do it:
I dont mess with the tabs, as you can easily scratch the surrounding plastic getting to them with the **** in.
1) Place a couple of peices of electrical tape (a couple of layers) over the center of the dial
2) Using regular pliers with some electrical tape on the ends, squeeze the center part of the **** tightly to keep them from slipping
3) Pull slowly and firmly (not too quick and hard so you dont damage the plastic tabs that hold the metal part to the plastic piece) until it slides off the shaft. You will end up with the metal and plastic part of the **** in your hand
4) Turn console over, remove screws on HVAC module (including the two in the middle)
5) Use a small screwdriver and your fingers to pop the module out of the center console.
