Do metal shift knobs get too hot?
i have the obx and fuuuuuuk does it get hot. i tried putting a towel and then a beanie over they both failed. i have to drive with them on and eventually just switched back to by oem one for the summer cuase it was a pain driving witha hot azz *** , and i drive a stick so i have to burn myself every time i shift!
I have this one, in flat black:

It does get pretty hot, but not so much that I can't shift until I drive enough for it to cool down.. I have a black sock that doesn't have a mate and i'm going to cut the end off of the foot so i have a hood for it for this summer... Problem solved.. I love that weighted shift **** too dearly to give it up

I have the speedstar mesh **** as well, with no tint mind you... It does get scorching hot on those 95+ degree days. So bad that I burnt my hand the first time the temp topped 90. One note... unless you're getting the short shifter don't buy the TRD leather ****, it won't fit right. The stock shift arm goes way up into that leather/plastic **** thing you get stock so if you attach the TRD **** you still see half of the shift arm sticking out of the boot... really ugly. Get an OBX and put something over it or go with something 3rd party like a Sparco or Razo.
here in the miami sun metal shiftknobs that ive had turn into an inferno even with 35% tints. in the winter it can even give u frostbite if you keep your hand on it. the hat method always works for me since i always have one in the car
