Default electrical problems, I need the scion king

My tc stalled and will not start or even go into gear. I stupid as I am put a 30 amp fuse in a 15 amp fuse slot for my cigarette lighter and interior blue lights. The 30 amp fuse blew and about 30 seconds later the car stalled and all my emergency lights went on like check engine , abs brake, and low tire inflation, oil lights. I had it towed to a private auto shop and he put the tc on a diagnostic machine and a bad ignition came up and he said my car alarm wiring was run through the steering column and was cut and thus burned out my ignition. he said the ignition come in three pieces and would take a couple of days, I pulled the car out of that garage and had it towed to the dealership becuase i felt the guy was way in over his head on this one and kept leading me on. The dealer called today and said all my emergency lights are on ( know kidding ) and he also said I owe$250 SO FAR and would continue to look at the problem. Now I explained this whloe situation to the dealer before I left, My question is does any of my tc brothers have any suggestions for me. Was it my mistake with the 30 amp fuse in a 15amp slot or the alarm wire being cut and shorting out the ignition thus shutting the car down. Please help,

I would say it is due to the Alarm wires shorting out on your chassis. Usually a higher gauge fuse would cause thin wires like on your cigarette lighter to become extremely hot. Fuses are sized according to the gauge of the wire. The gauge of the wire is chosen for the specific device it is powering.

The fuse for your cigarette lighter should have no effect on your ignition system. If your alarm was professionally installled and you haven't touched anything, I would go to that location and have them cover the damages. Most places warranty their own work.

Good luck!

sue the living hell out of the alarm installer and get compensated for the damages done... if it was installed right, that shouldn't have happened

the higher rated fuse is a mistake, and you should've definitely not have done that... don't think it's a related issue.. but the fuse being blown should've been a first indication of something was wrong..

replacing it with a higher rated fuse may have caused the massive prolem to start when it could've been prevented had you replaced it properly and diagnosed the situation prior to re-installing a new fuse.

hope things come out okay.
