Default Elemental Design EU-700s vs?

So I am going to be getting some sort of Bass for my car......Here are the choices, please tell me which you recommend of THESE choices and why.....

EU-700s -- probably 2-3 of them
Bazooka EL-10" -- Im thinking one of these maybe 2 though cause they are CHEAP
JL 8w04 -- 2 of them
Polk-Momo -- 2 of them

Dan... Give me a chance to take a few pic's this weekend of my setup.

I have two of the Eu-700's in a sealed MDF box. The box is hidden under the hatch back floor on the passenger side. All you see are two tiny little sub's.

To be completely honest... I was skeptical about how well these would work until I installed them and WOW!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

OK... Here's the pic's of the sub.

...and a little blurb of how I got there.

Sub box... 1/2" MDF with two Eu-700's Wired parallel and in series. Covered with black felt and stuffed with 1/2 lb of poplyfil.

Sub box installed. Just pop out the styrofoam tray and drop in the box.

Used a black sharpie and 7" dia bowl to mark speaker cutouts.

5 min's with a jig saw and Viola!!!

finished install. You can never have too much power. Amps are Infinity reference series, one 4 channel (111W RMS per channel) One mono sub amp (360 W). All wiring terminal blocks, cap, etc. are Stinger Pro Series. The rear deck can still be opened for access to spare.

Pete

ps... Sounds absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!

for the price, the Eu's can't be beat... aside from the "neat" factor of little sub, big sound/ the SQ on tap from them is incredible... I've got 2 on a 30Hz ported box and it's super nice... clean sounding and accurate!!

Do you have the plans for that box still? I am either going to build something very similar out of MDF or Glass and Wood Combo but I was just going to use the foam as my mold. I would much rather work from something that has been tested if you dont mind?
Thanks...

hmmm would someone recommend these for someone who isn't looking for an overkill on bass? I listen to alot more rock over rap, hip hop, etc, but I do like a nice strong, clean hit kinda like a bass kick, etc. I was considering/recommended to buy Kicker 8' solo barics for that kinda sound and ive heard good reviews from them. What would you guys say?

sounds like for what you're wanting, the Eu's will kill the solobarics... solobarics take quite a bit of effort to get them to sound good... throw 2 of these in a sealed box with ~300watts to them and they give you good addition without overthrowing the mids/highs and they have a good response to them without pounding one frequency too hard....

I just need new components and new back speakers, I have 2 kicker amps right now, but I might sell them off too if you guys recommend going with all e-designs stuff

Anyone ever thought about components in the front, EU-700's in place of the rear speakers in the sides, and something for a bigger bass punch in the trunk?

nothing wrong with keeping the Kicker amps unless you want all the brands to match.... I've got Fosgate amps with JL comps and eD's Eu-700's.....

going with eD 6500s components and Eu-700's will give you an amazing sounding stereo!!

only thing with that is: You'd need to make a baffle that completely seals the front of the woofer from the back of the woofer... this would make it an IB (infinite baffle) appllication... these aren't meant for free-air usage like the rear tC panels would be...

mandos (Elemental Design rep here on SL) has or had Eu-700's in his front doors... he's got a write-up around here for it somewhere...

The Eu's will fit in the front or rear panels... like I said, you'd have to seal them.... you'd also want to keep them from trying to play the same frequencies that the other speakers are playing... meaning cross the Eu's from 80-150 and let the mids/highs play 150+ and the sub(s) play <80Hz....

Sealing the rear panel you'd mount them on to the outside of the car = PITA...seriously...not really worth it.

Plus, having midbass behind you sounds horrible.

^^^ didn't think about that... it would have to be sealed to the shell.....

and yes, midbass in the rear sounds like poo... anything (aside from substage) in the rear sounds like poo IMO... but, different strokes for different folks...

^^^ no rears.... although If I were going to have rears, they'd be the same as my fronts(series) only coaxials instead of components...
