One thing you (or anyone for that matter) should consider is the area of this box. I have to recalculate but it's around .495 cubic feet which is just a little under ideal for the 2 Eu-700s in a sealed box.
I did a little research on the JL 8w04's... The recommended net internal volume for a sealed enclosure with one speaker is .375 cubic feet and the displacement of the speaker is .023 cubic feet. So gross voulme would have to be .398 cubic feet. Which would work if you mount a single 8w04. For two you just don't have enough volume and you'll more than likely lose more than you will gain. Mounting depth for the 8w04 is 4.06" and my sub box is right at 4" so you'd have to create a 1/2" mounting ring to keep the magnet off of the floor of the box.
Pete
ps... FYI... the area of two 6.5" subs are equal to one 9" sub.
My brother just bought a small single cab mazda truck over the weekend and wants some bass but 12's will be to tight back there. Would you recomend centering two eu-700's behind the seat in a small sealed box.

I don't see why they wouldn't work. Sounds like the perfect application to me. ;)
Just make sure that the volume of the box is .5 cubic inches if he's going with a sealed enclosure. Ported box will be bigger and the port needs to be tuned to the spec's on ED's web site.

Yep... as far as the speakers themselve go... it's really all about pushing sound waves through air and bigger isn't necessarily better if you can get something with a good design.

does e-designs make good rears? or are they not even worth replacing? I was gonna go with the eDi 6500s Components, the eu-700s, my 2 kicker amps (theyre both 250, don't have the names off hand), and then I was looking for some rears and a new HU (looking for one with the integrated ipod tech, I have the alpine one now, works nice but I want a new HU so I may go with alpine again). Main problems gonna be finding someone to install them.. heh
Rear speakers is a completely personal preference kind of thing.
I hate 'em
If you wanted something back there, my suggestion would be a pair of 600 mids only. Saves you some $$$ since the speakers are mostly going to be faded forward anyway.
