Default Extra Screens with a Pioneer AVIC-D2?

I am considering adding 2 screens in my car and hooking them up with my AVIC-D2 Nav system. In the 'Source' screen there are two buttons that say 'EXT-1' and EXT-2' that according to the manual are for future products or something.

I want to know if I could use those EXT sources for more screens and what could be dissplayed on them.

A second question I have is if a DVD player that I hook up to my Nav system has to be made by Pioneer. I do want a DVD player and a CD changer, but I don't want to pay $650 for the 6 disk CD/DVD changer that Pioneer makes.

those ext sources are just that... external sources

those have nothing to do with outputting to screens and deals with input or accessories being inputted into the unit. not output.

there are regular rca inputs that you can plug in anything.. including an external dvd player, your xbox, your ps2.. etc...

and then there are rca outputs.. which yes... you connect to extra screens.

thanks for that, I guess I should have been able to figure that out on my own.

Does the DVD player that I hook up have to be Pioneer or will the AVIC-D2 reconize other brands of DVD players?

you dont have to buy a pioneer dvd player to to work on the avic.. but you do have to buy a pioneer cd changer to work...
the dvd play has no real comunication with the avic... there is only video, left and right channels inputing to the deck... no control through the radio itself... you'll end up putting a infra-red eye somewhere so oyu can control the dvd player with a seperate control...

just incase i dont make sence here.. i will look over this again in a few hours cause i just woke up...
