Feedback problem with my amp, Help would be much appreciated
Ok I've searched around here for problems with ground loops and amplifiers and head units and what not. Even googled. I read the 10 commandments of grounding I found on here and tried everything it said, but nothing is working so far.
So here is my problems. Got some EDi 6500s today and got one installed so far. I have an old rockford amp that is running it. When I hooked them up, there is some MAJOR feedback. Popping when I start my car, whining when i rev, and there is like a background noise whenever the amp is on. But I'm confident it is a problem with my head unit. The reason i'm confident its my head unit is, when no RCAs are hooked up to the amp, there are no bad noises. Once they hook up to the head unit, the noise happens. I took it a step further to make sure and took a regular old DVD player from my room and hooked it up to them. No bad noise at all, they sounded perfect. So reading the 10 commandments of grounding, I tested a new ground for the head unit. I took some speaker wire and ran it back to the spot where my amps are grounded, same thing is still happening. I grounded the head unit to the battery, still had the noise. I even ran the constant power from the head unit back amp power wire and the sound is still there. I dont know what else to do now.
Thank you very much in advance for any advice.

the head unit is less than 4 months old, got it at christmas
Pioneer Premier dehp-940bt, its a decent head unit, but I guess it could have gone bad or something. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...159553,00.html

I have feedback through both the sub and through the components. The feedback through the sub isnt that big of a deal because I dont hear much of it. I ran a pair a loose RCAs I had lying around not hidden or anything, straight through the car and i'm still getting this horrible feedback. Such a bummer to get these things installed and everything and can't even stand to have them turned on.
Contact the place you bought the head unit from and let them know about the problem and tell them everything you have told us. im sure its just a bad unit and they should help you replace it if its only a few months old. These things happen even with a large brand name company like Pioneer
you culd try running the rca's from your head unit to your buddys amps in his car and see how it sounds, I would try to explain whats going on to the place that sold you the radio first and see what they tell you
