Getting better sound out of AUX port?
Is there a way to improve the sound from the AUX port on the tC's stock head unit?
I've noticed that CD's sound MUCH better than my Sandisk MP3 player, laptop, or iPod when plugged into the AUX port. Also, it seems the SRT function is only available for CD audio and not AUX-in.
Any advice?

mine sounds great...a common mistake is turning the device all the way up...that can be maxing out its amp, and it'll give you lil cracks adn pops.....also, running the EQ on the device and the car radio can cause bad quality..choose one or the other......and the last thing thats sometimes a gimmick is a good patch cable..

That's why.
I just have a stock system with the 10" bazooka sub woofer option. CD's sound MUCH better than my AUX port. I'm not saying the AUX port sounds bad, the MP3 CD's are just way better.
I found a thread on here about pressing your ssp button for a few sec and switching it from tc to xa. I did this and switched it to xb(it has more bass and a little louder) I found my mobile phone/mp3 player sounded better and louder. All you do is press the ssp button for a few seconds and toggle through the different models till you find one you like and sit back and enjoy.Try this for a quick and easy fix. By the way i have the same set up (stock radio and 10" bazooka

I dont really know of one but i can tell you xa is the loudest and has more treble, xb is sort of in the middle (loudness) but has the most bass, Tc well this setting (imo)kinda sucks its not very laud and makes the music sound funky. Have you also tried to mess with the settings on your bazooka, all you have to do is pop the grill off to reveal all the switches, play with those to get the sound you want. None of these are miracle fixes for week aux sound but they can help. good luck
i use the audio jack from my ipod and plug it in the aux port in the armrest.
as for head unit settings, i put the bass and treble to 5, output to front-2, and SSP to feel. on the ipod, the volume is maxed and the treble booster equilizer is on. i control the volume via the head unit ****, at '30' during the day is when i would consider it to be medium loud. all my mp3's are at 192 quality. sounds really good, no problems!
however IF i plug in the bottom dock adapter that goes into my cig lighter to charge the ipod while its playing, you can hear noise in the background of the music so i avoid that. it actually gets more high pitched when your RPMs go up, so i try to charge it when i decide to listen to the FM radio instead.
and now, if i pop in a store-bought CD, the quality is a tad better but not really noticeable.

I have that same problem if I plug in the charger to my MP3 player. It sucks.
I think I found what I need thanks to the support at the site aRucard recommended

It's a line driver that basically amplifies whatever sound goes through it. I am considering picking this up.

Actually, I might get this instead since I can pick it up in town and it uses the right size audio jack:
