hardwire
yeah u do it from there, but the toyota electical system is a lil wack so ull have 2 turn of ur radar all the time when u get out fo the car or it'll run ur battery down. *ital doesnt automaticaly turn off when you turn your car off)
an idea would be to hook it up to one of the light buttons. you'd just pull the bulb so it wouldn't shine all the time.
a better idea is what i did with my sirius radio. i tapped into the cig. adapter near the shifter and ran the wiring up the a pillar and along the roof line. it turns on and off automatically when i turn on and off the car.

can i do that if i have side curtain airbags?
the truley safe way is to have the wire go up another non-airbagged pillar, i think maybe the b pillar, then run it through the headliner to the front. more work, but suppossedly safer

Do you get an engine noise through the SAT radio...i have mine wired through the shift area and just plugged in the cig lighter adapter but i get a whining noise with my rpms....not sure if it is my plug or antenna???? how does yours sound!?!

it get no engine noise.
you should check out all your connections. make sure they aren't grounding out and make sure they are good. maybe use a line noise filter.
how do you have it connected to your stereo? i have mine connected with a headphone to rca wire, then into my aux input box.
if you are using the built in fm modulator, that might be the problem...it sounds like crap with that anyways

no i have my SAT connected to an aux input box and then connect straight to my Stock HU...i think my problem lies in the cig lighter plug....i think it needs to be hardwired instead of plugged in...better ground this way..i think???
