an idea would be to hook it up to one of the light buttons. you'd just pull the bulb so it wouldn't shine all the time.

a better idea is what i did with my sirius radio. i tapped into the cig. adapter near the shifter and ran the wiring up the a pillar and along the roof line. it turns on and off automatically when i turn on and off the car.

The toyota electrical system isn't wack, its the installation that is indeed wack, good sir. It's tied to 12v constant it would seem. It needs to be tied to ignition.

yes and no. you could do it, you'd have to be careful routing the wires on the a pillar. most likely you would just tuck them under the trim. lots of people don't like this though.

the truley safe way is to have the wire go up another non-airbagged pillar, i think maybe the b pillar, then run it through the headliner to the front. more work, but suppossedly safer

it get no engine noise.
you should check out all your connections. make sure they aren't grounding out and make sure they are good. maybe use a line noise filter.
how do you have it connected to your stereo? i have mine connected with a headphone to rca wire, then into my aux input box.
if you are using the built in fm modulator, that might be the problem...it sounds like crap with that anyways

no i have my SAT connected to an aux input box and then connect straight to my Stock HU...i think my problem lies in the cig lighter plug....i think it needs to be hardwired instead of plugged in...better ground this way..i think???
