Help me choose a new sub
I'm running 2 Type-R's in a sealed box (2.0v airspace total, 1 per section) powered by a Hifonics Zues ZXi 1010. They're powered at 500 RMS each.
Doesn't sound loud when your outside the car, but when you're inside...it hits like a truck. Keep in mind that my hatch is also dynamatted.
I couldn't be happier.
But you really do need to include a price range and what you want from your system.

Thanks for all the responses!
I am focusing on SQ, but will take what SPL I can get, only running 400 watts RMS displays this focus. I can run sealed or ported, as I will be building a new box for the new sub (I will be looking for more help soon on this
)
As for the choices:
Alpine Type R: looks decent
Alpine Type X: I dont have enough power for this
Diamond D3 looks interesting, never heard of them. Any reviews?
Diamond D6 is 600 watts RMS so I would be underpowering it
FI SSD: I REALLY want this, but my amp does not put out enough power
As far as price go I would say that $250 would be as high as Id like to go, but I want a Quality sub that will last. I have had commercial brands in the past (RF, Kenwood, Kicker, etc) and always get better results from lesser known brands like RE, eD, etc. This is why I was thinking of getting the IDQ, as I have only read good things about Image Dynamics.
Please keep any ideas coming, as I appreciate the help!

Also I have been out of the audio game for a while, where are the good places to buy stuff?
Diamond Audio says no authorized dealers online
This looks great http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=19473

10" Sound Splinter RL-i would be a great choice for you.

there are MANY better subs for the money than a RF P3
Look into a FI SSD or FI Q if you want more SQ

I will say that the Type R is an overall great sub at a good price.
You have to consider your goal first. Are you looking to bounce yourself down the street and just be loud and sloppy? OR are you looking for mainly seamless blending with your front stage and excellent transient response? OR are you looking for something in the middle?
What kind of music do you most often listen to?
BTW: You won't get the right equipment for your liking if you just listen to people that say "TYPE-R!" or "ROCKFORD RULES!"

I know better than to get RF and other mainstream store garbage. I alluded to that above. I am looking for a blend of SQ and SPL. I listen to rap/hip hop mostly, so I need the deep bass to keep me happy.
I would LOVE to get some FI stuff, but just do not want to invest that much $$ into getting a new amp and everything. I am happy with adding a lil boom, and dont need to rattle mt car apart.
My amp is rated at 400x1 @4 ohms or 200x2 @2 ohms. Please keep this in mind before you recommend a 1000 watt sub.
So far I really like the following:
IDQ
D3
RL-i
Do you guys have any links to reviews or anything to give me more info (such as users with them) on these subs?
Thanks again. I really appreciate any help!!

My advice to you would be to check out DIYMA or Caraudio.com first. I've learned from my years here at SL that very few people know didly about audio.
Going away from mainstream is a great idea, you can get a much better product from manufacturers outside of the norm. If you want the deep bass without too much power, you should go for a larger subwoofer with an RMS rating somewhere around your available power. If you could go with a 15" sub, you would not regret it.
I, personally, am looking into getting a 15" RE SE(600rms) in my tC or a 15" Dayton HO (800rms). The RE would fit your application and power, but I'm sure there are many that would do it better.
As I said, go to caraudio.com or DIYMA. Ask in a thread what kind of sub will give you the most thump on 400RMS and they will help more than here probably.
As for the 3 you alluded to though:
The IDQ will more than likely not get low enough for you though, and they can be pricey. The D3 is more SPL-oriented in my opinion than the RL-I, but both would be pretty suited for your situation. I'd take the RL-I, but that's just me. It's a shame it only comes in 10 and 8" flavors.

best running sub for 7+ yearsOP, I would choose the RL-i that I linked you to. It is a very solid sub and I have heard nothing but great things from them. Sound Splinter also has fantastic customer service so if you have questions for SS, they will be very helpful. They engineer some sick subs and I'll be using their RL-s in my install here in the next month or so. The RL-i would be my choice off 400rms. To the people who are recommending the 1krms subs, read the thread please. You just look silly.

A Type R or the RL-i will sound good.
The R will be slightly underpowered, and in my opinion, I don't get the extreme low bass you seem to be looking for.

@OP: While the W7 is a great sub, only the 8" or 10" will sound good on 400RMS, they are meant to take a bit more power in order to bump nicely.

And yeah, I got all my stuff squared away. I posted what I had a couple of posts up.
And the W7 comment was pure sarcasm.
