for this sub box...is it better to keep it rectangular or is it better to follow the curves
on the box for more volume or does it not really matter? cause ive built a box for both sides of my spare tire space and im liking the look of the rounded curves of the smaller box...

To get more airspace, following the curves along the side = good.

Also = huge PITA.

I just keep it the trapazoid since it gets enough airspace, and doesn't take hours to complete.

Mandos, the box looks great, and I love the complete stealthiness of it. When I get around to working again and can actually afford to buy stuff, I'll be taking a serious look at this. I was just wondering why you chose to build an enclosure for the floor, as opposed to building a side mount enclosure similar to Bazooka's offering. Was it purely to achieve a totally hidden look, or did you feel you could build a better performing enclosure by putting it in the floor?

2 things:

1) complete stealth.

2) Cost.

Fabricating a wood enclosure = not too expensive.

Custom fabricating a side molded enclosure = pricey, unless we make a few thousand of them. And while I have faith in the scion community, a few thousand of those boxes in under a year seems rather.....unlikely.

Of course, if you want to prove me wrong go for it

just a question, with the enclosure being close to the spare tire, would it at all cause the tire, jack, etc to rattle? If so, would we need to be some edead or something around the tire to stop the vibrations?

Shouldn't since the tire is screwed into the floor on rubber stoppers and the jack stuff is in styrofoam compartments

Correct me if I'm wrong... but you don't have to sacrifice your spare tire with those boxes. Unless you wanted to hide your amp, then obviously. Were you wanting to hide your amp as well?

Only if you got the passenger side only would you not lose the spare

the spot on the drivers side = too small for a sub w/o ditching spare.

Hopefully have this whole thing wrapped up tomorrow.

Had to make a few cosmetic modifications where you see the ink marks to get the floor reattached.

On a side note...I could flush mount a 19Ov.2 into the floor and only raise it 3"
