Default How to reassemble??

I recently took apart my center console for painting and sat radio install, however now I am having a hard time reassembling it correctly. On the shifter, I cannot get that little ribbon-type thing back on correctly. Its the piece under the plastic cover that is paintable (for automatic). It slides like its supposed to, but it needs to be adjusted over somehow. Is there a specific position plastic piece needs to be in?

I was gonna offer some insight, but you have an automatic, so my help is going to be worthless to you. Sorry man.

The "ribbon-type" thing, are you referring to the clips that fasten the panels onto the dash? Any pics?

Yes that thin plastic piece that slides around is the one. I will take it back apart and see if I can reposition it. I had a hard time keeping it in line while clipping the cover on. Thanks for your help!
