HU, Subs and Amp Combo
First off, I would like to say I feel honored to be a part of these forums, and have spent hours reading around here. Second, I would like to add, I have almost no experience with this stuff, so I'm probably going to come across as a n00b. I do thank you for all your help though.
So I got a new Tc, and all I do is listen to music, so I figured I should upgrade/mod the audio system. When I began researching, I found thousands of options, and have narrowed it down to a few, that I need your help and advice about.
1. Will the Eclipse AVN5435 head unit work well with the Elemental Design 11Kv.2 Sub, and the nine.2 Amp?
2. Is the Eclipse AVN5435 (Link above) worth it, and does it offer above average audio and video control?
3. If I buy the Elementel Design Amp and sub (link above) could I install them with the parts that are included in both the packages? Or do I have to buy extra equipment to get the two to work together with my head unit and speakers?
4. Is the 10" factory Bazooka speaker that you can buy with the Tc any good?
5. Is the Pioneer Avic-D3 or IVA-W200 better than the Eclipse AVN5435? And would it work well with the Elemental Designs audio hardware as well?
Thank you so much! All advice, opinions and ideas are welcomed and appreciated!

1. Ive never personally had any experience with Eclipse HU's but havent heard any bad reviews from them.
2. Im sure?
3. You will need an amp kit...ED Amp Kit*
4. Ive heard it gets the job done, but i personally wouldnt buy it. Not worth the $200+.
5. A friend has the IVA-W200 and he says he couldnt be happier. He also hasnt tried any Eclipse HU either so....?
You have a good setup your going with. Something very simple yet has some power.

What is your goal for the system? Are you serious about sound quality, or do you just want a lot of sound? Do you plan on, or might you consider competing? I ask because system plans for audiophiles are often very different than what pleases most people, and don't know which camp you're in.
1. Great, no issues at all.
2. "above average", compared to what? (answer is both yes and no, depending).
3. As previously posted, you need an amp install kit.
4. Enough for most reasonably sane folks, but won't satisfy a "bass head".
5. Define "better". Regardless, any of those units would be fine with the eD components in question.

Don't plan on competing but I'm really trying to find a good balance between audio quality and volume. I like music loud, but not loud enough so that it compromises the quality. I'm probably not exactly an audiophile, but I sure like good quality music.
Also, I realize my question #2 is subjective, and I don't expect any answers anymore, but if you have input feel free.
Thank you for all the help, both of you guys, it's helped immensly.
EDIT: Also, the CircuitCity site says that the Avic-D3 wouldn't fit in a Scion Tc. Is this wrong? If not, how much cutting needs to be done to get it to fit?

I was just asking because if you're serious about SQ, there are a couple things you might want to consider.
- Speaker location is more important than the components themselves. I'd rather listen to an average speaker in a great location than a great speaker in a poor location. Moving the front components from the doors to the kick panels will improve the SQ of the tC in a major way, even if you used the stock speakers.
- Use an amp (not HU) to power the front component speakers, because even one rated for less max power than the HU will get louder and sound cleaner. Make sure the amp (or HU) has a high-pass filter, so your front components don't have to try and reproduce bass, which they're not capable of and the sub will be producing anyway.
- Even a single 10" sub is capable of overpowering the front components, so if you want a "balanced" (pertaining to the full-range frequency response) system, multiple subs and high-powered amps aren't required for SQ in the tC.
Can't answer your question on that HU's space requirement, so I'll just wish you luck with the system.
