Hypothetical question....
So let's say, hypothetically,
that there was this person with a tC. And hypothetically, this person purchased a DVD head unit. Let's say for this hypothetical situation that the head unit was a Jensen. Now this Jensen unit comes with a video lockout to keep video from playing while the car is in motion, as p[er local and federal law. Hypothetically, this feature consists of a pink wire that is supposed to be wired into the vehicle's parking brake indicator light circuit to enable the unit to determine if the parking brake is on. Now let's say that hypothetically, this person wants to override this feature. Hypothetically, would this person just need to connect this wire to a constant 12V power source so that this hypothetical head unit would believe that the parking brake is engaged? Hypothetically speaking, of course
Yeah More then likely you just either hook constant or ground the wire.. Every in-dash has its own way..
The Pioneer I had you just placed the ebrake wire to a switch and then just ground the switch.
Im sure someone will chime for that model

well.... hypothetically speaking.... the ebrake is negative... so... you need to put it on your ground wire... but if i am not mistaken... you will need to put a switch on the ebrake so that the radio thinks that its the ebrake... cause all ebrakes dont just stay engaged all the time.. ya know... it needs to sence that its being engaged and disengaged all the time...
My AVHP6800 unit needed to have a in line switch that I can turn off and on to make the unit think the parking brake is on. If I need to stop the player then I just flip the switch and the screen goes back to the warning screen, but my other monitors will still play.
So the wire is just a ground? Interesting...is the switch a necessity or will the player still work if its grounded all the time? I imagine that this is how wall display models are wired at electronics stores to play video constantly...
K, i'm a little confused, i'm lookin to buy a Jenson dvd unit from a friend of a friend for $275.
So, do I just need any kind of ground or does it have to be a special kind of ground, like the ebrake? I wanna find out before I buy it so I know how to do it before I install it if it do get it.
Edit:
Ok, nevermind. I took hella long to type that.
I kept gettin distracted by South Park.

There is nothing "monitoring" weather it's being switched or not. It's not a complex computer watching that wire....it's just a simple electrical switch. On or Off. That's it. You won't have to do any fancy switch job on it. Just make sure you don't pump one that's supposed to be ground with 12v. It might not get along with the dvd player. It might actually end up killing part of the electronics. However, like I said, there is no sophisticated monitoring system installed watching weather that switch is on for 12 seconds or 10 years. It's either on (circuit closed) or off(circuit open). Simple as it gets...
