That is crappy man! I don't know how the tC is under the dash or around the firewall, but in the xB there is a hole with wires coming through like someone has already said. That's what I used on mine and I'm not even that good at audio stuff!

Sorry for the crap picture...kinda hard to stick a camera in there. It's in the red circle, that's the rubber boot, just put a hole in it carefully and stick the wire through.

the BBB is a joke. they legally can't do anything. sure, they can report you like a friend's word of mouth "stay away from that business" but they really honestly can't do anything.

first thing, have them fix it for FREE. after, have them show you the work they completed. if they're still being bastards about it and you paid via credit card call your C.C. company and dispute the charges. if in your state it requires you to sign a work order to have ANY service/installation work done to the car and you haven't filled one out or signed one then contact your local attorney general. in this state if someone hasn't filled out and signed a work order the shop legally can't do any work to the car unless this is done. if this hasn't been done then you don't need to pay a dime!

sorry to say it sounds like a shoddy job. they could've at least cleaned up the hole and installed a rubber grommet as least. good installers look for existing holes and if there's no choice they drill with extreme caution.

when dealing with them be nice about it at first. i speak from experience if a person is a complete jerk to me from the get go i won't do all that i can honestly. i'll stick to "company policy" and will stick by the book but if they're nice then i'll do whatever i can. it's human nature like that. if they're really _______s about it even after being nice THEN be a complete JERK. haha.

WTH? I sent them an email stating that I've been hearing some negative feedback about them.

I have to say from dealing with the BBB in the past, it will usually help get your point across. I've dealt with a few businesses (5 total) that I ended up reporting to the BBB. All but 1, which was an internet business, made things right due to my report to the BBB.

But as bBoxed said, start off as nice as you can. Being a business owner, I'm much more likely to do what I can to make things right to someone that isn't being a jerk right of the bat.

It sounds like the 1 and only time I made the mistake of using Jiffy Lube. They broke off my oil pressure gauge connection @ the block fitting and just tried to stick it back in. The guy tells me " the pressure of the new oil caused your line to break off", what a bunch of jerks.............. and as far as my dealings with the BBB goes, they are in the pocket of the companies they represent, got a real white wash.

Don't be a girl, go down there and tell them to do it right. If they wont, take them to small claims court.

I am all for making someone fix their mistakes... but with that kind of incompetence I would just cut my losses and do it myself or have someone elso do it.... it will cost more money... but when it comes to big power wires and sharp metal I would not trust them with my car!!!

So I took my car back to them tonight. The owner was heated about the work his employees did...atleast he was putting on a good show and blamed it on the new guy who just came from working at circuit city.
They reran the wire and from it looks like, they took it thru the wire harness and cleaned it up. They patched the hole with a glob of black dum dum or w/e the heck its called.
I should take it to an auto body shop and find out how much it would cost to get that hole fixed and present speed of sound witha bill...
Anyways...not only was the installer completely inept on running wires and such...he also doesnt know how to tune the amp/head unit...unfortunately, me either...
Im having a hard time from keeping the lows outta the speakers. Im not sure what to have everything set at so when i crank it...the speakers dont pop.
Anyone have experience with a JL 500/5/Alpine CDA-9851?

Oh, and for the guy who said "dont be a girl..." Trust me...I got no problem getting in someones face about things liek this. I was asking what else BEYOND having them fix the problem, I should do

If the HU has a built in x-over, set it so that the mids play from around 80Hz up. That should stop the pooping

The strip caulk or dum dum is not an acceptable fix. i do lots of car installs and know that if it gets warm out it will melt and youll have a hole again. id say that you should tell them that you want it done correctly at thier expense. its not your fault, its theirs.

I didnt say poop, I said pop...didnt I?
Anyways, I thought the same thing as you about the dum-dum, Harmonic. I called them earlier and told them it wasnt an acceptable fix, so the guy I spoke to is going to call his body work guy to see if he can patch it up correctly this weekend, at their cost.
Ill let yall know what comes of this
