Default Installed new HU and now LF speaker doesnt work??

Ok I just installed a Sony Xplod CDX-GT100 HU into the tC. I bought the wiring harness and spliced all the wires together to the wiring harness that I got with the head unit. I got the HU from a friend who I believe had in his 92 or so F-250. So I got everything hooked up and ready to go. Install went super easy and I thought it was working great at first. Didnt hear the left front speaker not working untill later when I went out. I was driving and was like this sounds weird. I played with the radio, turned it up, and figured out the speaker by my left leg was not working. So today I pulled out the radio and play with the wires. I wanted to make sure they were all spliced right and non of them came undone. Well they were all perfect. So I put in my stock radio back in and now Im ____ED that it wasnt working. I cant stand when my music sounds funny like that. So the stocky went in and the speakers all work fine. Any ideas on what it could be?? My wiring job is great....at least I think so. I have installed head units many times before and NEVER had a problem like this. Could it be that the head unit is messed up? or Something I missed while splicing the wires? I just simply put the White to the white, red to the red, and so on. So what did I miss?? any help would be great! Thanks

so yuo said after installing the stock one back in, it worked again?

well, then it's the Sony headunit then. either it be the wiring (which you vouch isn't the cause), the settings on the unit itself, or the unit is just messed up period.

Well the settings in the HU are fine. I played with them and that is how I found out that the speaker wasnt working. I think the HU is messed up but I sure hope not. But yes all speakers work fine once the stock HU was put back in.

Does anyone know what color wire the front left(driver side) speaker is on the wiring harness? Just thought I would ask.

EDIT: Never mind found it. White

Well on the wiring harness that I bought which is Scosche....the purple is the rear right and there isnt any pink. Just red. But I know the two harness' are different. But I did check the white wires and re-spliced them. I think the neg one could have been better for sure. So maybe it will work....cross my fingers!

Ya I did check it all out but didnt really do me any good. I redid some of my splices. Just to make sure...thought they were good but after looked not as good as I though. But I think some came a little loose during the install. But I will be reinstalling tomorrow sometime I think and we will see how it goes. I will keep you updated.

if you have aftermarket speakers installed the front left might be grounding out. Aftermarket radios can tell if it is grounding out or not and it it is, it will not allow that speaker to play. Talk your volt meter and try it out.

Ok I re-installed the HU for the second then third time today. Nothing is coming out of the front left. Is it the HU? If it is there is one at Walmart for sale and I may buy it then return the broken one....lol. Idk though for sure. But I want a new head unit now that I bought the ____ for it to put it in. What do you all think? HU is messed up? Its wired right I know it is. I checked it multiple times. I also checked other forums and other people have put up DIY on HU installs with the same wiring harness as mine. So I know it should be fine. But like I said walmart for a new one then returning the old one. Sneeky sneeky. Gotta work the system I say...

1. unplug the harness and look for bent pins on the white wires. If bent, straighten it.

2. Get a volt meter, put it on the Continuity setting, ground the black probe to metal, and tap the red probe to the white wires (with deck unplugged). If it goes "beep" your speaker is shorted to ground which is bad.

3. grab a 9 volt battery, disconnect the white wires again, and tap the contacts of the 9 volt against the white wires going to the speaker. If it makes a little "dunk" noise the speaker is fine. That would leave the deck (or your wiring) at fault.

4. Take it to an installer and give them $40.

i just laughed at your post kileil cause its so true. Try what he said or take your white wires and change then to grey which while be your left front speaker. If that speaker doesnt work then its your head unit.

Ok now for an update. It has been a little bit but with christmas and everything I was busy. Well went to walmart and bought a new sony headunit. Same thing just the next model. So I install it...which was easy. Made sure every thing was legit. And it still didnt work. My left front was not working one bit. well I think and think....then I think well lets check the prongs in the wiring harness I bought. Sure enough the one to the left speaker was all bent. I straightened it up and it worked!!! I was so excited. I cant believe I didnt see it before. I know I looked at it but it probably wasnt as bad on the first install as it was after being unplugged and plugged in like 8 times. lol. But we are all good now and im returning the one head unit I have. Now the tC sounds a bit better and getting some subs soon. Got a pair sitting in my parents garage that have my name on it. Just gotta buying a wiring kit. Thanks for all the help guys!!
