Default Installing a 2006+ Radio in a 2005 tC

Is this possible or are the radios not cross-compatible? Really want the iPod feature in my Scion where I can hook it up to the car but sadly my '05 doesn't have this

If I buy a 2006 Radio off eBay and install it would it actually work? And just wondering but is the AUX port directly in the radio or is it located somewhere else in the 06+ models?

It will work but you need to purchase the 2 piece iPod harness from the dealership.

i have the 08 xB premium radio in my 06 tC and everything works fine for me. i just had to buy the iPod connection in order to make my iPod work... the AUX on the 06 radios is integrated into the radio itself and the iPod connects to the AUX port that should be in your center console (if your car came with the iPod upgrade tho)

better to just buy an aftermarket headunit.

for your '05 your car isn't prewired to accept the ipod harnesses that usually just plugs into the car. i'd consider it more trouble than it's worth.

^^ yes it's actually better just to buy an aftermarket headunit, like a nice alpine from Crutchfield.com (no i don't work for them, just been buying from them for awhile and like their service a lot!)

also, the 06's have a round cut out on the back of the radio door to accomodate the volume **** on the 06+ the 05's had buttons for volume up/down.
