Default Installing Amp with a LOC in a 2008, Help!

Hey guys, I just got a SW 2008 and I'm getting ready to install my system but I want to keep the stock HU. I went and bought a LOC (the SWI-15 I believe), but I don't know which set of wires are my speaker wires going into my HU, there are 4 sets. I downloaded the 07 wiring diagrams but it doesn't look the same.

I've also read that I don't need a LOC because the car has an aux input. Is this true?

Assuming your installing a sub amp your going to want to use the rear left and right speaker outputs, they are as follows:

LR Speaker +/- brown - yellow
RR Speaker +/- red - white

Its possible, but doubtful that the colors are any different. Toyota has been using those colors in their cars that are non amplified for many years, but directechs does not list the 08 or 07 for that matter. My 07 uses those colors for rear, pretty safe to say the 08 does as well.

The aux input for that deck is as it says, an input. Its used for iPods and other audio sources such as dvd or playstation installs. It wont do you any good on an amp install.

Good luck with your install! If you have any questions let us know.

You would assume that Washoutx,
And I think you might be wrong.
The 2008 models come with a STOCK 6" sub / amp
The sub is taking a harness with 7 wires. One bigger black wire and 6 smaller wires.
I haven't looked at this extensively yet though. And regardless of that harness you'd atleast want to run new POWER for the amp. But, if you can pin those out properly I'm sure that you'd already have your sub feeds for the amp in that harness.

I'd have this looked at by someone who knows more about the stock wiring in the 08.

Watching.

I was not aware the 08's came with a factory sub. In this case then you would want to locate the wiring going into the sub enclosure its self, and see if the wiring for the sub comes out of the enclosure at a point seperate from the harness for the sub amp. If so you can tap your line-out in there. If you use a decent line-out you should be able to pull signal from the sub wiring after the factory sub amp.

Does the 08 deck have a seperate sub volume control? If it doesnt, and there is no amp for the interior speakers, then you can still pull signal from the wiring I stated above if its still the same coloring. The rear speaker signal would most likely be full range if there is no amp and if the factory deck doesnt have sub control your lose nothing by using the rear speaker wires as a signal for your LOC.

I havent had an 08 come through the shop yet so I havent had a chance to probe and prod it.

Yeah, I'm really confused because there are 4 harnesses going into the HU because of the stock sub, the steering controls, the ipod/aux/12v in the center console, then the usual speakers/ignition/dimmer/constant and all those other wires. I'm not sure which ones to tap in to.

I think I picked the right harness and used the wires someone stated to use earlier, I just can't test it yet because I haven't found a place to run the Amp's power wire through the firewall.
