Default installing console arm rest/glove box/interior light to dome

I have searched for this and read just about every thread but didn't really see what lights are the best and the best way to wire them. What would the best lights to install in the glove box and center console?
i don't want single LED's because i dont want to worry about resisters.

Also for the interior lights, would cathodes be the best bet?

I am going to have 2 in front under dash, 2 in rear under seat, along with the center console light and then the glove box.
I want these to turn on with the dome light when doors are open and car is unlocked. (besides glove box which will have a momentary switch)

Will they also turn on when the dome light is turned on manually with the switch? I don't want to fry anything so any help appreciated. sorry for another topic about this subject I just dont want to mess anything up.

I personally like to use flexible LED strips for all my interior lighting as they come ready for 12V (most of them come prewired too) and are more maneuverable than cathodes. I typically get them from Oznium.com and if I need to "suspend them in air" I zip tie them to a wooden dowel to give it support. Otherwise they all have a sticky underside for mounting.

As for wiring it up to the dome light, go here https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...95923&start=20 and scroll down about halfway where I posted regarding the setup I have in my car. Also read the last post in the thread as well for some good info. I use an On-Off-On switch so that I can turn all the lights off or put them on whenever I want (regardless of the dome). I personally think its the best way to do it, but you can bypass that completely and have no need for the switch mentioned in my post. Your setup, your call.

If you wire it up in the same or similar manner, your new lighting will be independent of the dome light so they wouldn't go on if you put the dome on.

Hope that helps.

theres two different style diagrams in my profile that i made for other members here that worked perfect for them and to this day they have no issues. If you need to have them explained, let me know or i can send you a bigger pic for better readability. Fairly straight forward and can be used no matter where you place led's/cathodes. Also, the blue bars/circles represent cathodes/leds.
