Default Installing a System

I just bought a cheap system today and wanted to install it. I tried searching and I came up with a few things but I still have a few questions. So far I have the power wire up from the engine bay into the trunk. Now I have the RCA cables which I can't use with the stock HU. I have that other wire thats supposed to splice into the speaker wires that goes into the AMP. They're called the High Level Inputs. Do these just splice right into the car speakers? Could I just splice these into the rear speakers of the car or no? Also where and what exactly is the remote wire. Where is it on the Stock HU?

By system Im sure you mean an amp and sub, they sell a special box that you can plug the rcas right into(cant remeber what its called) so you do not have to have a aftermarket HU. And with that you will spice into the rear speaker wire. As far as the Remote turn on lead, this is for the amp so when you turn the ignition on the amp fires right up. Really not sure what wire it is being that its been a long time since ive done it with a stock HU. but just a little more info for you

k Thanks. Yea by System i mean Amp and Sub. I was wiring it up with a friend today and his HU had RCA ports since his an Aftermarket HU. In the manual is says that you're supposed to use either the RCA jacks or the High Level Inputs but not both. and at the end of the High Level Output wires is says like Right + Right - Left + Left - so I'm assuming this goes to the left and right speakers respectively. Still would like some info about the remote wire.

Also I ment to ask. Is an inline fuse really necessary if the Amp has a fuse? Also what Amp rating should the inline fuse be if it is necessary?

It would help if you mentioned what Amp you are using. The Amp probably has two types of inputs. One will be RCA inputs. The other is high level inputs, which is usually a plug with speaker wire leads that plugs into the side of the amp. Then you have speaker outputs, which are usually a set of screws that you place speaker wires under and then screw down. Of course different amps use different methods but this is the way normally see it. Your statement above makes me think you are confusing the high level inputs as speaker outputs.

The high level inputs are used when your head unit does not have RCA line out... (ie. it just has speaker wire outputs) In that case, unless you buy a converter, you would connect the speaker output wires from the HU to the high level inputs on the amp. (ie. R+/R- out on the radio to R+/R- input on the amp... and so on).

Yea my amp has both the High level Inputs and the RCA inputs. I wound up getting an In Line Converter and hooked it up that way.

the remote wire should hook up to the gray wire on the back of your stock hu test it first to make sure there is 12v with the key on and has no voltage with the key off and that will be your remote wire that will turn on the amp.
