Default iPod in 05 tC w/ 06 OEM Head Unit??

Ok, I'm so confused. I was reading through the sticky iPod thread and having a terrible time.

I have an 05 tC with the 6CD changer. I thought well, I'll just buy the 06 OEM head unit for $50 on eBay since I wont' be using the 6CD changer with an iPod.

Now I got it.. and I don't know what I was thinking.. I guess that there was a 3.5mm input jack on the head unit for my iPod.

So what do I need to buy? One of the TOY03-AUX adapters? I see a lot of people mentioning the PIE Aux-In - is that the same thing?

Can I just buy whatever cable goes from the back of the head unit in the AUX port to the console on the 06 tcs, and plug an ipod cable into there? What would the part # be for that? I mean that's all I really need. Or is there more to it than that?

Basically I'm stuck with an 05 head unit, an 06 head unit, and some 3.5mm cables.. and I just want to do this the easiest way possible. What can I do? I don't care about being able to control my iPod on the head unit - I have an FM transmitter right now nd I control the iPod directly, and I can keep doing that.

uhmm... the '06 iPod HU has another cable that plugs into the back of the HU which the '05 vehicle does not have..

and then the AUX plug has even another seperate harness for that.

you can try to purchase those harnesses.. but they won't be cheap.

don't know.... i would be able to wire up a 3.5 aux jack myself....

there's like 3-4 pins on the rear of the '06 HU you have to deal with...

And the website says "The TOY03-AUX is NOT COMPATIBLE with 2006-07 Toyota radios with "SAT" Button"

Does that not apply to the Pioneer head unit? I know in the official iPod thread it doesnt say anything about using the SAT plug.. and I have XM so I need that..

just get an after market head unit and call it a day. I would check with your dealership because you will need two cables one to plug into the radio and another to convert the end of that last cable to a harness that will plug into your ipod. That first cable is mounted in the center console though and i don't know if you would be cutting through it or just running it into the glove box.
