Just a cool swap
Nothing new on this one really. Nothing that no one has ever done, but it just came out nice with the color scheme I thought... so I posted it since I havent posted pics of my swaps in a while. Links to videos of the color change as well. The neat part is the needles not dimming so they are just there when the gauges are dimmed :D

I actually get a lot of requests to make a write up on this, but I havent so far. I dont elevate the stock leds. I instead mount new boards right behind the needles with thier own circuits, so they are solidly mounted. But again, I just havent had time to write it up
But, I will put more of them on scionwiki.com "guides" section soon hopefully.

It all depends on what the person wants really. It can be done either way. I still want to actually work on my other project, which would make the color changes programmable so it would be the same mod all the time with different code inserted.
But on this one, we decided to make the needles all consistent so they match. If I did mine this way I would probably go blue to red on the temp and red to white on the fuel like you mentioned. Then probably blue to red on the others as well.

It helps a lot! I will try to take some pics of mine to compare, but before backlighting them separately, they showed up so so in the daytime. Afterward they show up very bright and clear, even in enough light to prevent you from seeing the other backlighting of the gauges. I think I am going to make mine so that the needles are lit all the time, regardless of the gauge lighting. Makes a big difference. That one still turns them off if you turn off the lights.
