Default laser detector placement?

We all know that putting a radar detector as high as possible will help the detector's radar sensitivity range, but what about laser?

The laser gun is a focused beam aimed directly at the car (usually the hood). So would it be advantageous to mount the detector lower and closer to the car?

Yes. I've done a lot of research on it, and yes. Honestly though, I would go high so that way you can hardwire it into the sunroof controls, because once you get tagged with lidar, your done anyway. Laser radar hits you and you've got a ticket. Better range will give you a heads up. PM me with any other questions.

If you have it in the middle of the windshield, you'll get an obstruction of view ticket with your speeding ticket!!!

Nice cops...

No, because once you get hit with a laser, you're done. Game over.

isn't the K40 a laser scrambler? The scrambler confuses the laser until you can slow down, then you turn the scrambler off when you are at a normal speed.

I think they are illegal

thats HELLA money tho..
For most of us, we have 'alright' radar detectors that have some laser functions.
Like sddykstr said, it would be best to mount in as high as possible.

i have the second to cheapest radar/laser detector from best buy; mounted in the driver's corner windshield..... this thing lets me know long before it is even possible to get a ticket. It may not catch all but i have not gotten a ticket since my purchase. Dont fall for the $500 gimicks.... KEEP IT SIMPLE.. save that money for other mods.
