the shop told him that they don't do side panels anymore bcuz of ppls complaint to them.
they said the side panel leather kept popping out everytime you close your door.
and the clip won't attach to the leather....

Hasn't happened to me yet, but I've only had mine for about a month now. The leather also comes with a lifetime warranty for workmanship, so if that happens, I can just take it back and tell them to fix it.

I had mine done at Auto Trim. They glued the side panels in so they look perfect and aren't going to pop out.

We have added leather to a couple of TC including mine. Depends on what patterns and such will reflect the price. When we have leather put in a tc we send it off to a company that does it. They offer a lifetime warranty on the leather. Prices range from 1200 -1500 and that includes seats, arm rest, doors and back panels.

As has been said before, a dealer will basically just charge you a bunch of money and have some place install some leather for you. It's not official Scion leathered seats, there's no such thing, it'll basically be aftermarket leather thrown on top of your seats.

Mine was Toyota leather, that's close enough to Scion leather right?

I don't think it matters if it's a Toyota leather kit or Katzkin kit, they'll both be good either way. You probably paid over $1k for it when those kits cost around half that. And from what I remember there is no such thing as official Toyota leather for the tC, although I may be wrong, but I have never seen anything of that sort and the onyl things I've seen available are kits such as the Katzkin kits or having a shop just custom fit leather onto your seats. If you're happy then that's all that really matters though

Talk about putting a bad spin on it...

My leather was not thrown on top of my seats. The original cloth upholstery was removed, and the leather was put onto the seats. There's no way to tell it isn't factory, and frankly, the Katzkin leather is of better quality than many manufacturers use.

I had mine installed at the same shop my Toyota/Scion dealer uses, I just contacted them directly. I wanted someone else to put it in because 1) I don't have the time, 2) they have an installation warranty, and 3) they did a better job than I could on getting it all straight and looking good.

I definitely recommend it.

That's what I meant, I know all about the Katzkin kits but paying someone hundreds of $$ to install them is kinda crazy...how much did they charge you for everything? Just curious since I know every dealer does it differently.

If I remember correctly, I paid somewhere around $1800 when it was all said and done. I think the leather was $995, $100 for two-tone, $200 for perforation, and $500 for front seat heaters. But don't quote me on that because I could be wrong.

That sounds about right because mine was $1600, but I didn't get two-tone or perforation, so yours might have been $100 cheaper.

Hey Sangnoy,

I got my tC with leather too for $1200. I got the perforated two-tone option. They do the seats, door panels, armrest, and rear panels too. That excuse that the shop gave is complete BS.
